Stay safer.

A revolutionary advancement for the dangerous sport of cycling, the ICEdot Crash Sensor mounts to any helmet and detects life-threatening impacts. If an incident happens, it uses a low-energy Bluetooth signal to trigger the ICEdot app running on a smart phone.

Before alerting pre-specified emergency contacts via an SMS text message, which includes GPS coordinates, the ICEdot Crash Sensor app sounds an alarm on the phone. If not disabled, the emergency contacts are alerted and immediate actions can be made to avoid serious injury.

The ICEdot Crash Sensor is currently supported on iPhone 4S or later (Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 Required) with an Android version coming soon (4.3 only). It includes one ICEdot Crash Sensor, a helmet mounting clip (adhesive or zip ties used to attach), one USB to Micro USB charging cable, and one year Premium ICEdot Membership.

Great Concept but does not work

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great concept but the app does not function correcttly with new I-Phone upgrade. I purchased my ICEdot last year and have had this issue since I received the product. The app works fine when the phone is awake and the app is open or running in the background, but once the phone returnes to standby with the app running the sensor will not wake the phone up and start the countdown if the sensor sees a crash. I contacted ICEdot, they are aware of the issue and say its a problem with the Apple IOS software update, its not their issue, and that the next IOS update should fix the problem if enough people report this to Apple. I have reported this to Apple, and apple says the issue is with the software developer's product, no application update is required, the developer needs to fix their software. This leaves us with a non-functional product, in the middle between ICEdot and Apple, out the investment in the product, with no solution to get the sensor working correctly.

what does icedot membership cost after the first year?
Does the product work without the icedot membership?

The membership is only $10 a year, and is required for this to work.

Works well on iOS, terrible on Android

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Avoid if you have an Android phone. Shows up with multiple MAC addresses and prevents you from ever connecting to the sensor. Effectively useless. Customer service no help.

Peace of Mind

I have a friend who said, "If you get hit by a car and are in the ditch, what does it matter to have the ICEdot sensor?" The answer is so that your contacts will know you are down and be able to find you via the GPS that will receive in a text. Even if you are riding with a group, don't leave it to others to contact your family if you are injured (and if your phone is locked they can't get into it and find contacts anyway). The ICEdot Crash Sensor is my peace of mind when I'm riding. Long battery life, lightweight, it is the perfect riding companion!

Family feels better

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is small little accelerometer that you can attach almost anywhere on your current helmet. I don't even notice it's there, and it easily connects with my iPhone. I feel better wearing know that if something happens to me in the mountain of New Mexico someone will know about it. It also makes my wife feel better knowing that she won't have to worry about finding me in a ditch hours after my accident.

Most triathletes I know prefer to train alone. That means long rides to the middle of no where and back. Sure you carry a cell phone but what if you can’t reach it? This is what I love about this little gadget, you crash, it knows, it notifies.

It's like your Amex, don't leave home without it.

ICEdot has got your back

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The majority of my training rides are solo on rural roads. I have been using the crash sensor for a little over a year and like the sense of security it gives me knowing my emergency contacts will be notified should I have a crash and be incapacitated. The ICEdot Crash Sensor to "has got my back" .

I got one of these knowing it would make my better half comfortable with me going out riding as much as I do. And it works awesome. I just hope I don't really need it.
