Why We Like The Ripmo AF SLX Air Mountain Bike

We peg the Ripmo AF SLX Air Mountain Bike as one of the most capable bikes from Ibis thanks to its forward-thinking DW-Link suspension, and the reasonable price tag is quite the bonus. This AF version boasts a full aluminum frame that cuts cost and offers a more compliant ride than its carbon counterpart, with only a slight weight penalty. The Ripmo AF boasts a modern 64.9 degree head tube angle that provides stability at speed without going over the top and sacrificing maneuverability. The short 435mm chainstays make the bike easy to corner and offer a playful ride feel for riders who prefer the stubby rear end.

The most impressive part of any Ripmo to us is the incredibly supple, ground-hugging, trail enhancing goodness that the DW-Link rear suspension is known for. It offers a supportive pedaling feel that’s complemented by a steep seat tube angle that lets us motor up even the trickiest of rocky climbs. On the way down, 147mm of gushy travel soaks up big drops and picks apart burly rock gardens, and the 160mm Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Coil fork handles its traction duties in the front of the bike quite well, too. This build boasts some great value with a reliable SLX drivetrain and brakeset from Shimano, and aluminum S35 wheels from Ibis offer an intuitive ride-feel and excellent durability.

*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
