first time, won't be last

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

good tasting gel, got the mango orange flavor. not as thick as the GU brand in texture, very similar to the SIS gels. I'll continue to buy these (reasonably priced too when on sale)

Thank you for the review!!!

Yum!

These are delicious and perfect. The Honey Stinger Gels are a great consistency and flavor, making them a great addition to your back pocket for those long rides

    Bulletproof energy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As an ultra runner, nutrition and healthy energy is top priority. These gels are really great for just that and I also really appreciate how easy they are to suck down in the middle of a run. A lot of other gels on the market are a lot thicker and harder to get down. These gels are a good consistency and they taste really great too!!

    Go to jel...always!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these jels for my road bike racing/training. Ive tried several brands of jel and the taste/texture is perfect in these! The natural ingredients are easy on my stomach and keep me from getting that nasty race gut feeling when you're 3+ hours and 6+ jels into that training ride from hell or leg destroying race. Basically, if you do any sort of gut wrenching endurance activity but don't want your gut to wrench because of your fuel, then choose honey stinger from backcountry and order in bulk.

Thanks for the review Sterling! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

    tastes good!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

very similar in taste and texture to SIS Tropical flavor... more liquid than GU (still my favorite).. nice for variety.

    Tastes like cough syrup

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: fruit smoothie

I got the fruit smoothie after reading one of the previous reviews. I was excited to try it and when I ate one of the gels I thought that Honey Stinger used a cough syrup recipe to make the gel. FYI, fruit smoothie is horrible unless you like cough syrup.

    They actually taste good

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Unlike many gels these are actually enjoyable to eat.

    taste great, feel great

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these taste great and seem to do the trick energy wise

    Great Gooey Gel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The vanilla is my favorite! What I like about these are less viscous than PowerBar Gel's so they work better in colder climates.

    Go to Gels

These are my go to gels, I'm celiac and these are certified gluten free. The vanilla and chocolate are my favorite flavors.

      Works well

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These really do give you a boost of energy. Like, they actually work, it's crazy. I especially like the Kiwi-Strawberry because the flavor tastes great and it has a little bit of caffeine for an extra boost. I try to have a couple of these in my pack for longer rides to keep me going, Definitely worth it!

      Good Taste

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fruit smoothie tastes good and provides nice boost during a break on the trail.

      Don't Stop

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I don't like eating heavy food when out riding and doing cardio so the gels mixed with the chews are my favorite way to fuel up during a ride. The flavors are all easy to handle but the vanilla is my preferred flavor, not too sweet.

      Honey stinger for the win.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am a fan of all Honey stinger products and the gels are no different. I love that are a honey based product. I do my best to eat healthy and fuel with healthy food which can be difficult on long rides or runs. Thankfully Honey stinger is offering a more natural based product that actually taste really good too. I have never had any stomach issues with honey stinger products either.

      Mid Ride Boost!

These are perfect for that mid ride boost! Always usually carry one and like the mango flavor.

        Taste Great

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I almost always carry one of these on a ride as backup energy. Really enjoy the fruit smoothie flavor. Work great for quick energy.

        keep on keeping on

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Honey stingers are my go-to when I need a pick-me-up on the trail without wanting to stop for a picnic. They are easy to toss in my bag and have an my leisure, plus they taste great and since I'm not a huge bar person this is a much more enjoyable experience for me. Here's to getting a little gas in the tank and allowing me to charge a little harder for a little longer.

I make Rod Stewart jokes while ingesting

"Do you think Rod Stewart liked the flavor?"

People tell me it's an urban legend and not true. I don't care. It happened.

I can't look at a Gerbil without thinking about Richard Gere either.

The Acai wasn't too bad. Gel shots just suck when you take them and making a little joke helps the process of getting it down.

I'm a sucker for gels, these are my #1!

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've always gone in for the convenience and efficiency of energy gels and they have certainly come a long way! In my opinion, Honey Stinger has put them over the top. I have yet to experience any stomach discomfort or ":::That's::: your idea of _insert flavor here_?!?!?" reactions with Honey Stinger gels.
As others have mentioned, the consistency is lighter in comparison to other gels which makes getting hem down less of an effort. The flavors are a big plus as well: no surprises with honey and the chocolate is remarkably like a chocolate you would actually choose and enjoy, rather than a soviet-issued chocolate-like concoction that you have no choice but to "enjoy".
The fueling aspects are predictable and reliable. Follow the instructions and drink plenty of water when consuming them (like any gel).
My un-solicited advice is to stick to the advised "every 45min", and follow the endurance training/racing mantra "eat before you're hungry, drink before you're thirsty!".
You should of course consult your Physician/coach/guru/mom when designing your training nutrition long before you listen to me though : )
