Don't let wet roads dampen your dedication.

Dedicated cyclists don't let a cold fall wind or a bit of early spring precipitation keep them off the bike. After all, these are typically the seasons for building a base, and riding on through neighborhoods or woods during the coming and going of leaves is one of cycling's greatest pleasures. Based on their long-range ride design and perfectly balanced combination of insulation, protection, and breathability, Gore Bike Wear's Oxygen Partial Thermo 3/4 Bib Tights are an indication that they recognize this, too.

They feature strategically placed panels of Gore's venerable Windstopper fabric for wind and road spray protection in the crotch and the center of the back. This protects the areas where you're most likely to catch chilling air and water while offering additional ventilation through in the areas where you won't miss the added barrier. Since Windstopper is literally windproof (i.e., it meets or exceeds the level of wind-resistance required to officially qualify a fabric as windproof), your engine and back will stay warm and dry while the thermo fabric used throughout the rest of the tights maintains a comfortable temperature. The bibs themselves are the one non-thermal area, which we appreciate for flexibility and the ability to layer as little or as much as we like up top.

The Oxygen insert is designed for long rides around the four hour mark. It blends variable high-density and open-cell foam padding and wicking and ventilating material in a pliable, supportive structure. The Oxygen's horst and graben landscape pads the bones you sit on and creates voids to protect the areas you'd rather not sit on. Elsewhere in the tights, the flatlock stitching and shifted seams eliminate abrasion on areas like the knees that are prone to abuse at the hands of bib tights. You can focus on the scenery rather than counting down the base miles because of an uncomfortable chamois or irritating seams. Reflective elements on the front, sides, and back help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

The Gore Bike Wear Oxygen Partial Thermo 3/4 Bib Tights are available in five sizes ranging from Small to XX-Large in the color Black.

Almost Perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Just used these for a local Gran Fondo in Upstate NY. Temp was 49 degrees with wet roads. Bibs worked as advertised keeping me warm and dry. Chamois was quite comfortable. Agree with other reviewer comments on length. I have a relatively short inseam, 30” and legs tended to bunch up at knee.

Quality materials

  • Fit: Runs large

Materials and workmanship are good. Bibs run large, but close. The legs need to be a couple inches longer and would benefit from some sort of gripper at the bottom.

First time user of 3/4

I ordered these 3/4 knickers for the fall season but had used these during the end of winter when it was around 45 degrees and misty out. It fit me nice as i am 136lbs and ordered a medium. The chamois was amazing . Im a type 1 diabetic that has neuropathy so keeping warm is an issue for me but with these i had no issues at all. My knees were covered and warm so no knee pain and the windstopper sections did exactly what was needed . I do wish it had more wider logos that reflect though.

Love Gore shorts, jackets, and I've even got a pair of cold weather gloves that's working great. These are way too short - rest of the fit is great, so it's not a size thing really. The leg grippers are super comfortable but they ride up my calves and bunch up. 6 feet, 175, and I was surprised they didn't work out.

Awesome, Except for One Thing

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

These knickers are almost fabulous. The fit is great (I have 30" waist and ordered M), robust chamois, love the windstopper crotch panel, and the wide "power" type cuffs at the hem.

Only problem is, they are too warm.

I can't imagine wearing these higher than 58-59 degrees. Much colder than that and the wind bites the shins.

I'm disappointed they didn't work out, but I need a more versatile knicker.

So what cool-weather knickers did you settle on?

I went with the Giordana SIlverline Knickers, which has their own weaknesses, but they hit the temp range I was looking for.
