As summer transitions to fall, we typically leave pulling on arm warmers until it's too late for them to do the job adequately. This isn't (completely) our fault, though, as the nature of most arm warmers also bears some of the blame. Most warmers, after all, are really just thin sleeves of lightly thermal material—wholly inadequate for the temperatures of late October mornings but still too much in September. Giordana's Heavyweight Knitted Arm Warmers are the exception to this rule. They're still too heavy for the warmer months, but they provide warmth suited to 50-degree mornings.
As the name suggests, the Heavyweight Knitted Arm Warmers are made from a more robust version of the Dryarn Giordana uses in its lighter warmers. That means it ups the insulation game to the point that the Heavyweight warmers are useful for more than just an autumnal fashion statement, but it still features targeted variations in knit density to accommodate areas that require more flexibility, durability, or insulation.
The knit construction also eliminates the need for seams and does add a stylish bit of throwback flair compared to standard Lycra warmers. Despite our implied denigration of cycling for style's sake above, we do enjoy breaking out wool jerseys for base miles and coffee shop noodles in the cool months, and the Heavyweight Knitted Arm Warmers don't clash.
