AV Extreme Lyte Jacket
When racing or doing some high-output training in wet conditions, you can count on Giordana's AV Extreme Lyte Jacket to keep you dry and comfortable. By utilizing the same fabrics and construction techniques as its much-lauded AV Extreme jacket, the Lyte version takes on a slightly more minimal approach that helps reduce the bulk and prevents you from overheating when conditions don't quite warrant the full-on Extreme.
This particular jacket achieves Lyte status by constructing the back panel of its Blizzard material, therefore, offering better breathability and ventilation. It's fortified with an environmentally friendly DWR AcquaZero treatment and its woven to improve its anti-abrasion properties and provides a near-rip proof surface. Like the Extreme its innermost layer consists of Polartec Alpha 60 fill for cozy warmth and heat retention while the interior layer of 100% polyester mesh, provides air circulation and breathability.
Up front, a wind-resistant zipper keeps chilly blasts from invading your comfort zone while the microfiber, fleece collar further adds protection and is cut to fit while in the riding position. This rider-centric fit extends to the straight cut sleeve cuffs designed to interact with winter gloves.
On the rear, its 3 gusseted pockets haul the gear needed during unpredictable conditions and contain drainage holes that keep them from filling up during a deluge while the pocket lip keeps items inside secure over rough roads. A fourth zippered side pocket adds additional security for the storage of essentials. Finally, a Pixel reflective panel at the tail and rear piping increases visibility in low light conditions.

Great piece of Winter'/Early Spring Kit
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 2XL
- Height:
- 5' 5"
- Weight:
- 168
I can wear just a base layer with the jacket for rides (35-45 degrees) and be very comfortable. The lining really helps to regulate heat and sweat including sleeve of the jacket. When I wear a base layer do not feel significant temperature difference on my back. The pockets are deep enough for a wind jacket-for the downhills. Do recommend a neck gaiter. The size chart recommendations seem to be spot on. I sized up to accommodate for a thicker base layer when the temperature and/or windchill are 30 degrees. It is great to have more time riding instead of stopping to remove or put on a layer or arm warmers for the varying temperatures.
