Great overall features
I have used my Garmin 840 a number of times on rides. The features and connectivity to my watch, radar and other seniors are great. Added features to warn me of traffic, turns and climbs is fantastic. Great addition to my riding.

Great computer
I purchased this about a month ago and my favorite feature is that it is simple to use. It automatically integrates with the garmin radar and keeps track of battery life of everything. I have not used all of the options due to my own issues but expect to within the next month.

Climbpro was disappointing
I bought this 2 months ago as an upgrade to my Garmin Edge 510. I really like the combination of buttons and touch screens. I was excited to get to my first climb to try out the Climbpro but was quickly disappointed as I can not read the numbers on the screen: Avg gradient, length of the climb and total feet of climbing. Those 3 critical data points are the smallest on the screen. My suggestion would be to get rid of the map and use that extra real estate to enlarge the numbers and provide choices as to what goes where. I am really hoping Garmin gives this flexibility with an upgrade soon.

Needs better interoperability with Apple ecosystem
There are a number of features that are unavailable without an accompanying Garmin watch. I have health data from my Apple watch (e.g. VO2 Max and resting heart rate), but I cannot manually enter it in the Garmin ecosystem -- frustrating. Also, every time I eject my Edge 840 from my MacBook Air, I have to force a hard reset to regain operation. It hangs during restart.

Not Sure On This
I purchased this after I broke the wings off of my beloved 830 in a crash. I was so pumped to order this 840 thinking I just justified an upgrade via crash. This thing feels cheaper, the screen is not nearly as clear or sharp as the 830 and it’s nowhere near as intuitive as the 830. It seems like Garmin made the screen a little bigger from the 830 but downgraded all the features and software and packaged this as an upgrade. Not completely pumped but I’m stuck with it.
