When seconds matter, shaving a few grams can make or break a trip to the podium. Fox Racing Shox crafts the Kabolt Axle for weight-conscious racers looking to drop that bulky QR from the front axle in order to get every last advantage on the course. The 100mm version clocks in at a claimed 40g lighter than Fox Racing Shox's standard skewer. Either size is compatible with all 15mm quick-release forks and installs in a flash with a 6mm hex wrench. As an added bonus, the Kabolt eliminates worries of catching a quick-release lever on errant rocks and branches.

So this is definitely just a necessary bolt for ones bike. I couldn't help myself but to have some blingy orange bolt holding my fork together! I bought one for my dirt jumper and one for my trail bike because I was over a quick release on the front wheel. Plus the orange matches my bike

    used it in a pinch

my girlfriend lost here thru axle and we used this one in a pinch it will fit rockshox pike boost fork....but don't recommend trying it.

Agreed on the use on RS Pike forks. It doesn't thread as far as the standard RS maxle and if it isn't tight, you can pull threads and damage the fork.

QR's are great, when you need to constantly take your front wheel off for a roof rack, but with most racks not utilizing a front axle retention system, forget it.

Also, I will take weight savings anywhere I can, as long as it does not compromise performance. Throwing out the QR and saving 40grams works for me. Plus the orange thru bolt looks rad!
