Top Gear Shoes

In two words, the DMT Top Gear shoes can be described as 'reworked innovation.' However, DMT didn't simply tinker around to say that it did. Instead, using racing team feedback, the Top Gear sees a reinvention at the carbon fiber sole, closure system, and uppers. Basically, DMT's best just got better.

Starting at the heart of the Top Gear shoes, the outsole, DMT placed a newly redesigned system at the base. Now, the Top Gear sees a calculated placement of carbon fiber. In fact, DMT's testing shows that this outsole design demonstrates less dispersion of pedal force in comparison to prior outsole iterations. So, the rigidity in respect to the pedaling platform has been strengthened, while comfort has also been increased through the outsole's controlled flex. In a way, this seems like a balance of opposites, however, the added forgiveness proves crucial over the course of long, berating trail rides.

Attached to the carbon outsole, you'll find a fully-replaceable, polyurethane tread. DMT actually constructed this from three independent pieces (toe, heel, and cleat area), so that replacement tread is applied only where it's needed. The tread compound is highly durable, and better yet, it's features an incredible grip for quick, upward scrambles on nasty trail sections.

Moving up the shoe, we start to see the true brilliance of DMT at work. For the closure system, there are two hook-and-loop straps that control the volume of the shoes, while DMT's Micro Closure ratcheting buckle controls the general tightness and security. And new for this year, the Micro Closure has been made lighter and 10mm smaller than prior iterations. However, this shrinkage doesn't inhibit the functionality of the fastener, as it still pulls the strap an acute 6mm per pull of the lever. Your foot security is also assured from the Top Gear's External heel counter. This design keeps the heel in place on the upstroke of the pedal, nearly eliminating power-sapping heel slip. Additionally, the heel counter also features an engineered anti-shock system that stabilizes the foot during hard juts and drops. In regards to the upper itself, DMT created it from an ultra-breathable and highly durable microfiber. The tongue of the shoe has been drilled for added ventilation, and DMT added ample padding to increase comfort without sacrificing breathability.

The DMT Top Gear Shoes are available in the color Black/silver/red and in even sizes from 37.0 to 48.0. Please note that these shoes are only compatible with standard two-hole mountain bike cleat systems.
