Serious saddle time.
As fans of De Marchi's Contour Pro design ethos can attest, no one else makes a bib short that's as comfortable and carefully constructed. It makes sense, then, that the Leggero Men's Bib Shorts were inspired by the Contour Pro fit but engineered with lighter-weight materials that make them perfect as warm-weather training and racing shorts.
Lightweight and exceedingly flexible, the fabric that makes up the majority of the Leggero is made in Italy by craftsmen who are themselves cyclists in order to ensure cycling-specific quality. It's made to offer targeted muscle support to reduce fatigue, and even has built-in SPF 60 sun protection to stop your skin from frying under the hot summer sun — the highest in De Marchi's bib shorts line.
The bibs themselves are made from an exceedingly lightweight stretch microfiber to increase ventilation and cooling, and the leg grippers use small gel inserts to prevent riding up and eliminate any constriction or chafing. Reflective details add some extra security during early-morning and late-evening rides, and embroidered branding on the left thigh oozes the classic Italian style that has made De Marchi such a common site on Competitive Cyclist lunch rides.
De Marchi uses Elastic Interface's N-Duro Air chamois in the Leggero for comfort that privileges the kind of breathability you'll want in temperatures flirting with the triple digits. Known as its long-distance chamois, the Endurance Air incorporates high-density, ventilated cushion elements to support the ischial bones. The perineal zone incorporates channels of open cell foam, which is more compressed to better accommodate the cycling position. The specific "half-moon" seamless shaping perfectly contours to the shorts' paneling to eliminate bunching and creates a middle channel where the body stays suspended for effective pressure relief and improved blood flow.
