Description

Puro 3 Jersey

At our headquarters in Northern Utah, the range of temperatures where a thermal jersey like Castelli's Puro 3 Jersey ranges from October through March. Castelli recommends it for temperatures down to 57 degrees Fahrenheit; however, we find that, as long as temperatures stay north of 45, we often only need a light baselayer and a little sunshine to stay perfectly comfortable in the saddle—especially during early spring intervals or those unseasonably warm afternoons in mid-November.

When the temps (or the precipitation) do fall, the Puro 3 transitions to full-on winter when layered under a wind- and waterproof shell or rain jacket, adding thermal insulation to anti-weather pieces. Before the jacket comes out, the Puro 3's increased reflective zones help ensure you'll stay visible while squeezing out every last bit of daylight on early fall evenings.

The secret to the jersey's versatility lies in Castelli's use of Warmer fabric, which now extends across the entire jersey. Previous generations used a lighter material on the sleeves, which stretched more but insulated less and often left our arms—already exposed—with less protection than our heat-generating core. Increasing insulation on the arms reduces heat lost in extremities and, by extension, heat lost at the core through blood circulation.

  • A thermal jersey for chilly rides and winter layering
  • Insulating fabric provides warmth and breathability
  • Streamlined fit layers under anti-weather shells for winter
  • Gripper elastic and dropped hem reduce risk of riding up
  • Three rear pockets stow essentials
  • Larger reflective panels increase visibility in low-light conditions

This is one of my 55 degree and under jerseys. Any ride above 55 and it is too warm. I grab it for mountain bike rides in the early mornings and winter time in northern Ca. I chose black which shows less dirt and mud stains. I pair it with a light long sleeve base for high 40's temps and add a vest for low 40's. The fleecy lining is super cozy and will warm up quick but wicks nicely and I am yet to be a wet mess in it. It is not cut for race fit. But at 168 lbs. and 6'0", the fit is perfect and doesn't create issues when you want to wear something underneath. Good arm length, nice collar and deep pockets.

When I ride a bicycle I’m all about breathability. I own a Gabba jacket and love it but honestly, I don’t ride in the rain, I don’t need to. I live in SoCal. So back to the jacket. It s perfect. Keeps you warm but ventilated. Sub 45 I wear a thin summer layer under and a super light vest. At 50s no need for a layer, just jacket and vest. At 60s take off the vest. 68 and up you re wearing the wrong jersey. Ride well and be nice to new riders.

Great jersey/jacket but tight fit

Great jersey/jacket was really hoping would work for me especially with the unique colors and design. But at 6-2 215 the 3XL jersey was definitely too tight. Even if I went back to my normal 200lbs I think it would be too tight. Tightest jersey/jacket I have ever come across in 30years of cycling.

Really nice jersey

I sized up from XL to XXL (6'1", 210lbs, 36" waist) and it fits nice even with a base layer. I use is alone down to the low 50's, start using a base layer from then down. It's works for me with a rain light jacket and thin base layer down to around 30F. It's really comfortable.

Great jersey just get the right size

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 5'10'' tall and weigh 185 pounds. My chest measurement is 44" and my waist is 33". Based on other reviews of this jersey (a little stretch), I went with an XL, even though based on Castelli sizing it should be an XXL, and it was the right call. I've ridden twice at 45 degrees, wearing a base layer and a wind vest and it was very comfortable.

They say there’s no wrong weather, just the wrong clothes? Or something like that. I paired this with a Flanders base layer and light gloves on a 41F ride and was very comfortable. Ive used this in the upper 40s with no base layer and felt pretty toasty. I do run a little hot i suppose, but you should definitely add this as an option to your cycling wardrobe.

Great Jersey for cool winter rides!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I received the jersey as Christmas gift, I opted to exchange from an XL to XXL in order to wear a couple base layers. Great fit, comfortable and warm for rides here in Colorado in the mid 30's to low 50 degrees. The exchange customer service was awesome! Highly recommend the Jersey.

That would be helpful if you added your height and weight.
