Description

Marinaio Full-Zip Long-Sleeve Jersey

Castelli’s pro-level Marinaio Jersey fills a specific need in the dedicated cyclist’s wardrobe, providing thermal comfort on dry rides ranging from 54-64 degrees F. With warming fabric throughout and a little extra stretch thrown in on the side panels, the jersey is relatively basic in construction compared to the deeper winter layers from Castelli’s vast line up. However, that was the intent as the Marinaio complements Castelli’s range and matches well with its Perfetto or Aria vests on colder rides that need wind blocking.

Castelli includes the standard rear pockets in a dropped fashion to enhance fit and riding comfort, while a reflective trim sits just below for low-light conditions.

  • Add style and function to your cool weather cycling kit
  • Thermal, long-sleeve jersey for dry riding in spring and fall
  • Dropped pockets for enhanced fit while riding
  • Stretch fabrics on sides add freedom to move about without constriction

*edit to review. User ID is my wife's acct. This is a review of the men's Marinaio jersey. First off this jersey deserves a 5 star. I gave it a 4 due to color misrepresentation on site. Sizing: True to Castelli size and fit. So many complain about Castelli sizing. Do your homework prior and be realistic with your sizing. Castelli is euro race cut, period. Not designed for big bellied, or large framed riders. May take you a mistaken order once or twice to figure out their sizing. For me I am 6'2" and 180 +/- lbs with a 41" chest. Narrow'ish build with skinny arms and XL works for me. Still tight but sizing guide is accurate for my build. If you are broad shoulders and have any gut whatsoever you really may need to size up 2 sizes. Most can size up 1 from their "normal" size. I would typically wear a Large in non -euro brands. The jersey has exceeded my expectations. It is a tad thicker (in a good way) than I expected. Very soft micro fleece lined. The outer material has a bit more sheen (shiny look) than I'd typically care for but its ok. Honestly gives more of an appearance of a soft shell jacket with a tight fit. I also have the Castelli Puro 3. Both are very similar in weight and fleece, however the Puro exterior is much more "cotton'ish" vs the Marinaio more traditional jersey exterior material. I probably won't use the Puro much anymore. Castelli temp range says 54-64 degrees F. I think you likely will be too warm at the higher temp range when riding with any purpose. If you are already in this price point of a jersey, I would assume you already know how to layer properly. When accompanied with a good vest (I use the Castelli Perfetto ROS) and with a light base layer you can make this a good winter jersey as well. Sleeve length may be a touch on the long side for many riders but is spot on for me. What I love most about this jersey is that it is form fitting much like a summer jersey. No flapping of fabric on fast descents, rear pockets are firm and hold your stuff in place,(phone not bouncing around when out of saddle etc). If you have large arms sleeves will be tight. I have very skinny arms and sleeves are snug (again perfect for my build). My only gripe is with the color. I really wanted a red long sleeve and this jersey is only partially red. The picture and even their description just says "Red." Only the upper most panel (upper chest, neck and top of shoulders) is actually red. The main body of jersey is Orange (with black stripes). Back of sleeves where no stripe is also Orange, then you have the large white panel on rear shoulders. Other Red Castelli product is the same way. Not so sure about their color pallet choices here. I am keeping the jersey despite the odd color combo as there is just such limited availability these days. Just a miss on the red color. This is a all around great jersey that for most can be used from fall all the way through spring with proper layering when needed.
