Energy savings are an important component for trail runners traversing across long distances, which is why we applied GUIDESOLE technology to the TRABUCO MAX trail shoe. This trail running shoe provides improved cushioning and traction while allowing runners to cover more terrain with less effort.
GUIDESOLE technology is a sole construction that consists of a responsive toe spring that's scientifically proven to save energy over the long run. Thanks to the reduced load placed on the limbs from foot-strike to toe-off, this technology gives trail runners more potential to run further since they'll use less energy to cover the same distance.
Traction is a necessary component for running off-road, which is why we have incorporated ASICSGRIP technology in the outsole. This rubber compound is functional for providing traction, especially amongst wet and slippery conditions. Incorporated into the ASICSGRIP outsole, we applied an uphill and downhill lug pattern for improved agility when navigating varying topography.
We also wanted to provide advanced comfort and cushioning for runners that are out on the trail for hours at a time. Adding 28mm of FLYTEFOAM technology under the heel and 23mm under the forefoot, this shoe provides excellent cushioning. Because of the high stack height, stones and roots will be better absorbed by the midsole. The combination of a smooth forward rolling motion, improved cushioning, and better traction makes the TRABUCO MAX shoe a great training partner for a variety of trail running workouts.

Cushy
These shoes are very supportive and cushy. I think they run a little bit big but it’s doable. Not sure I love the speed laces but I guess they can be handy overall and glad I got them.

Work Shoe Jackpot
This is THE number one work shoe if you’re on your feet all day! One pair will last about 6-8 months with daily wear & 10 hour shifts. Easy to slip on but super secure, the insoles hold up. I was on the hunt for a good work pair for 7 years, and now I’m two pairs in and not planning on changing!

Great but watch out for snow!
Every body and foot is different, so take everyone's reviews with a grain of salt and try on a bunch of runners before you buy. (I don't know why I have to say this, but after reading negative reviews it only seems like the shoe wasn't a good fit, doesn't necessarily warrant 1 star reviews...) I tried on about 15 pairs of trail runners and these felt like they were made for me. They've been comfortable on long trail runs since day 1 and have amazing support for my weak arthritic feet. I don't find that the bulkiness gets in the way while dodging roots and rocks, which was an initial concern. The only downside to my experience is that they're like ice skates when walking/running on snow. I know it's not what they're made for, but I assumed that the tread on the bottom would assist in wintery conditions. I went for a hike in these in soft snow and I slid down the entire mountain. I took my dog for a walk in soft snow on flat ground and slipped onto my butt 10 times. Not advised for anybody looking for a shoe that they can wear in winter.

Runs small
Runs very small and kind of narrow. I had to return. I am between a size 8.5-9 and I ordered a 9. Without a sock on my toe was right at the tip and the shoe was extremely tight.

Great shoe very comfortable feels very supportive
Shoe offers a lot of support. Very comfortable. I recently started wearing shoe inserts for a foot problem so I bought a half size up. The shoe is still narrow. I should have bought a full size up.

Disappointed
Great colors and material. This particular style runs small. I am ususlly an 8.5. It was too tight on the front of the foot.

Don’t love…
Tight across the top due to lacing system. This makes it hard to put on shoes as you can’t loosen lacrs up enough. Bit disappointed.

Not great
I think the soles are too thick and the curved up toe area is not the best. Because of the curved up toes I sometimes rock back and forth and it throws off my balance. Would like to return them but past 90 days.

Don’t Bother
I wish I could give these zero stars. They initially feel great, but on long hikes, my feet go numb. Wish I had listened to other reviews about the narrow/tight toe box, but the sale price made me want to try them. Don’t even bother because they will lull you into a false sense of comfort until you hit the trail and have to suffer through the poor decision. I love the Trabuco Max 2 though. The two don’t even compare.
