Go tubeless on your cyclocross bike with the Stan's NoTubes Iron Cross Pro Disc Wheelset and never look back…except to see how far you are gapping the competition. Built specifically for gravel and cyclocross bikes, these wheels pack a startling amount of value, versus high zoot carbon tubulars wheels, when you look at their weight and consider the tubular-esque performance you'll achieve with the ability to run lower air pressures. Stan's has pretty much written the book on tubeless rim design and the ease of tire install and overall performance are so worth the price of admission, you'll be wondering why you didn't do it earlier. The Neo Ultimate hubs feature five-degree engagement so grabbing the holeshot once the whistle blows and getting right back on the gas after remounting through the barriers will, in our heads at least, have us masquerading around like Wout van Aert in the rain drenched Belgian countryside when maybe it's just a grass crit in the middle of September the next town over.
The Iron Cross Pro features Stan's trademark Bead Socket Technology (BST) featuring low profile beadhooks. Bead Socket Technology rims are designed to match the shape of the tire's bead to create a safer and more air-tight interface. BST rims secure the bead of the tire, not the sidewall, creating an air-tight seal while allowing the tire's sidewall to expand to its true, rounder, more effective profile. The result is more traction and less rolling resistance. With lower-profile, less vulnerable sidewalls, BST rims are also lighter and stronger by design, and accelerate more quickly. Pinch-flats are virtually eliminated allowing for a 30% air pressure reduction versus a standard clincher wheelset. The result: more stability, better handling, solid cornering, and better overall control. These rims are compatible with standard tubes but we view this as probably for a just-in-case scenario. For the privateer racer, the ability to change tires depending on course conditions are welcome and not really an option unless you have a fleet of tubular wheels up and ready.
Stan's builds the Iron Cross Pro rims to Neo Ultimate hubs which feature additional CNC machining to shave weight. The super quick Speedsync 5-degree engagement provides instant acceleration and you'll never settle for the turbo lag of lesser designs again. Cross is all about racing in less than idyllic conditions and thankfully the hubs have stainless steel bearings for maximum durability. Triple bearings in the freehub provide axle stability to handle higher vertical and torsional loads likely to be found on the cross course for 60 mins. Flanges are angled for improved spoke alignment and more consistent tension. It's pretty obvious that Stan's left no detail unchecked in their quest to perfect the ideal CX wheelset.
The Iron Cross Pro wheelset is laced with Sapim Laser spokes, which are light, strong, and contribute to the excellent ride quality of this wheelset. The rims come complete with Stan's yellow rim tape and Presta valves already installed for tubeless use. Additional end caps are available for easy axle conversions.
