Why We Like The Shimano XTR/Dura-Ace CN-HG901 11-Speed Chain

The XTR/Dura-Ace CN-HG901 Chain keeps our bikes shifting with precision, and pairs brilliantly with Shimano's top-notch XTR and Dura-Ace 11-speed drivetrains. This model features a revised plate profile that's compatible with E-bikes and single-speed applications. The chain's slight asymmetry pairs perfectly with Shimano's 9000 series drivetrains for silky-smooth gear shifts and greater power transfer, and the low-friction SIL-TEC treatment glides across your cassette's cogs with minimal friction. Ultimately, this allows you to focus on riding without worrying about your chain keeping up with rapid shifting and high-cadence efforts.

They're the best

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

You don't really think much about your chain, but there is nothing like a chain that works so well you forget about it. Shimano chains just sorta work. I know they test .5w faster on some marginal gains gizmo that has a margin of error greater than they are measuring, but I'm more looking for something that just works. Shimano chains, on their drivetrain parts, are incredible. Under load, spinning fast, whatever, they just work and I'm good with it. I'm a chain waxer as well, and they do seem to last many thousands of miles. My one bike that doesn't get bad weather has gone closer to 5000 miles before I decided to change it. It didn't seem possible and I changed it out of paranoia. More expensive, but there's a reason they cost more, it's not just fluff.

Get them new. Clean them thoroughly and use a wax based lube. Go Fast.
