Why We Like The XC5 Mountain Bike Shoe

Keeping a low profile can be important on race day, as it helps keep your competitors curious as they wonder what they're up against. Similarly, the XC5 Mountain Bike Shoe also keeps a low profile so it can keep things sleek and aerodynamic while you soar to the front of the pack, and stiff enough to handle serious pedal mashing.

Great Shoe, odd fit

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
38

I really like these shoes and they fit my needs for a stiffer shoe that is compatible with MTB pedals. The size chart is pretty accurate and I would say they run true to size. That said the heal is super snug and makes me feel really locked in but the toe box has a bit higher volume. This is great in the winter when I wear thicker socks, but I find on long rides with thinner socks I get a little bit of a numb spot. I have a generally narrow foot though so I could see this fit working well for a lot of other people. As for the Boa issue, I saw others reference. I had no issues getting these on and off. You really just have to make sure you release the boas completely. As for durability, I have put roughly 500 miles on these so still newer, but everything appears to be holding up great! All in all I would definitely recommend these. They might not be the absolute perfect fit for me but they still work super well and are a great option to have.

Great Shoe Doesn?t Last

I?ve ordered no less than 3 pairs of these shoes and SUPER frustrated at the lack of attention Shimano places on women?s shoes. I guess they make them so dainty and not built to last past a summer. I?m done and waiting for them to put the same attention they do for the Sphyre to a women?s sized shoe. I?d buy men?s but they just don?t go to fit a women 7.

Easy to put on, wear and walk in

I read the earlier review about difficulty getting them on but decided to order anyway because I liked the color and style - thought it would be worth the try. When I first put them on I thought, oh, the previous reviewer was correct these are a pain to put on. Before actually returning them though, I tried again. The boa just needed a little coaxing - then there was PLENTY of give! Now I see these are super easy to put on and very comfortable. My typical ride is 100 miles on gravel and these worked great - very comfortable even on the first time out. Also, I like the attached tongue style. I believe it may keep my feet a little dryer in event of a downpour. There is so much room in the toe box I can fully spread out and wiggle all my toes yet my heel is snug and secure. I ordered my usual size 41. Nice grippy sole for walking too. Highly recommend!
