Why We Like The H3 Direct Drive Smart Trainer
When the weather sours and it’s time to take training indoors, the last thing we want to hear is the steady whirr of a trainer for three months. The H3 Direct Drive Smart Trainer is the quietest ever made by Saris, besting the already library-quiet H2. Less noise from the trainer means you can focus on the ride—or just catch the finer plot details of the latest binge-worthy TV show while grinding base miles.
If you’re taking a purist approach to training, the H3’s Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity pairs readily to apps like Zwift, Rouvy, Trainer Road and others to get the most out of your indoor hours. Built-in cadence, speed, and power sensors eliminate the need for additional setup steps or widgets. The robust aluminum body and precision-balanced flywheel can withstand your punchiest workouts, with a maximum of 2000 watts and a maximum simulated grade of 20%. An intelligently designed internal cooling system keeps the H3 accurate through the toughest efforts.

Sucks when climbing
When climbing in a virtual setting it overheats and drops to the app and basically loose all resistance. I weight 135 lbs and am producing around 200w. Plus I walk this trainer around the room sprinting. Again 135 lbs. I’m writing this while waiting for the trainer to cool down. UGH!

Next time I'll do more research before purchasing.
Not easy to use or set up. You have to buy additional equipment.

Good Product at Reasonable Price
This H3 was a replacement for an H1 that died after about 8 years of flawless performance. Setup was really simple. It connected to the App and Internet on the first power up. Firmware update and calibration was real smooth. I have it mounted on a MP-1 platform. Either the H3 or the platform needs a sound barrier. The H2 echoes through the MP-1. It sometimes sounds like a truck tire that has gone flat. I experience the same thing when I mounted my H1 on the platform. Prior to that I did not experience the noise. Definitely quieter than the H1. Same performance as the other brands at a much more tolerated cost.

Great for 5 months...then the knocking noise...
Trainer has been great for 5 months until the dreaded knocking noise started..unclear what's causing it so far, but may have to return and try another brand if I can get it figured out soon.

Awesome Trainer
I have been on this trainer now for about 2 months! I have nothing bad to say about it. Comes with everything you need to jump onto any of the popular virtual platforms. The app is easy to use and works great on my iPhone and iPad. If you’re on the fence don’t be. You won’t be disappointed.

Better than Wahoo core
My Wahoo died so I needed a new trainer. The Saris feels smoother and more realistic on the spin up. It has a wider base too which seems to make it feel more stable. I had a problem getting it to pair until I deleted the wahoo app.
