There are few other bikes that bring as much peppiness to the mountain bike scene as the Santa Cruz 5010. This 27.5in trail bike reminds us of some of our fondest rides aboard mountain bikes, with a playful nature that's fun and intuitive to ride. The latest generation of 5010 now uses Santa Cruz's lower-link VPP suspension for a smooth, predictable feel with an abundance of traction when the trail gets rough. Whether we're hitting bike park laps or pedaling deep in the backcountry, the 5010 is always looking to have a good time.
Geometry on the 5010 is longer and slacker than any previous generation, but still retains the nimble characteristics that people love about this bike. The bike has a 65.4-degree head-tube angle in the slackest setting, great for getting the 27.5in front-wheel over obstacles without getting stuck. In a size medium, we get to enjoy a 77-degree seat-tube angle as the bike proves that it's not all about just going downhill. The long-wheelbase specced on the 5010 is a welcome addition to keep us comfortable at high speeds.
Santa Cruz tailors the geometry to the rider with size-specific chainstays, meaning that the bike handles the same across all frame sizes so riders tall and short can all enjoy this bike. SRAM is in charge of shifting duties on the 5010 and offers an impressive 12 speeds of range, including a huge 50t cassette out back for big ol' walls we encounter on the trail. RockShox and FOX take care of suspension duties, with a plush Fox DPS shock in the rear mixed with a ready-for-anything RockShox Pike up front.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
