Rotor's ovalized chainrings have been shown to increase the efficiency of virtually any rider's pedal stroke. While the standard Q rings are the perfect all-around ring, if you race in conditions that demand near peak power output for extended periods, such as time trials or sprints, the more pronounced QXL Inner Chainring should be taken into consideration.
While Rotor's Q Rings are capable of handling the power load and torque necessary for time trials and sprints, the QXL rings feature 16% ovalization as compared to the Q-Rings' 10%. This more extreme ovality helps to further increase the efficiency of your pedal stroke during high cadence/high power output. They are essentially designed to maximize the efficiency of your pedal stroke by prolonging the power zone and minimizing dead spots. They are machined out of 7075 aluminum and, with multiple mounting holes, can be "clocked" to maximize the effects for your biomechanics, pedaling style, and bike geometry. The higher ovality of the QXL rings makes them ideal for the high cadence, high power rider such as a sprinter.
QXL rings feature five OCP points. These points allow you to position the rings to maximize efficiency of your individual riding style. As mentioned, you "clock" them, meaning that you turn them in relationship to the spider so that the dead spot in your pedal stroke is minimized.
The Rotor QXL Inner Rings match with the QXL Outer Rings. They are available in the sizes 110mm/36t, 110mm/38t, 130mm/41t, 130mm/44t, and Shimano 36t, 38t, and 44t. They come in Black.
