If you're a mountain biker that prefers to ride flat pedals, you understand how critical it is to have a grippy shoe that keeps your feet glued to the pedals when the trail gets rowdy. The Pearl Izumi Men's X-Alp Flow Cycling Shoe does just that, thanks to a dual compound rubber sole designed for maximum traction on the pedals. Sticky siped rubber at the ball of the foot creates positive pedal pin engagement and stability, while chevron-shaped lugs made from more durable rubber are used at the toe and heel for hike-a-bike durability and scrambling confidence. The seamless upper uses minimal overlays for a lightweight feel that molds to your foot shape, eliminating hot spots and providing all-day pedaling comfort when you're on a big ride deep in the mountains.

poor grip

would not recommend for anyone biking on a regular basis

Not for serious riding
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
They look nice and are constructed well however they do not give any grip to the pedals. I have no idea how these were developed and actually sent out to the public as a MTB shoe. The area that is specifically designed for grip is actually much more slippery than the rest of the shoe. These are dangerous for any type of aggressive riding. It is amazing that the product department did not test these or just released them with them being flawed. I dislike giving bad reviews but I just rode these today and was so let down. I will probably just use them for bike path rides with the kids, it is the only thing they are good for.
