Keep the weather out.
Pearl Izumi is billing the Elite Prima Reverse Jacket as two jackets in one because it blocks wind and provides thermal insulation. This limiting billing leaves a few key performance elements off of the list, though, including the jacket's lightweight, non-restrictive construction and its breathability. Water, wind, cold — the Elite Prima Reverse Jacket keeps all of them outside of your body's microclimate.
Elite Barrier fabric is Pearl Izumi's anti-weather nuclear option, providing the most wind and water resistance of any of the materials in its stable. In a miracle of modern science, it's still lightweight and breathable, even with the addition of Primaloft insulation. Primaloft is a low-volume material, too, so the overall bulk of the Elite Prima Reverse Jacket is kept to a minimum. The four-way stretch of the material leads to less restriction in the saddle, whether you're reaching back into the rear pocket or down for a water bottle.
Though it's virtually impossible to surpass the jacket's elemental resistances with today's fabrics, some days may require a bit more insulation. On such occasions, the Reverse Jacket's semi-form fit accommodates the addition of a base layer. The full-length zipper includes an underlying draft flap and garage to eliminate the possibility of any wind or water leaks, and the exaggerated rear hem ensures there won't be an uncomfortable gap between jacket and tights. The jacket includes two front pockets and one rear zippered pocket for safely storing all of your winter riding essentials. Also, as the name unsubtly suggests, the jacket is reversible.
The Women's Pearl Izumi Elite Prima Reverse Jacket is available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the colors Berry, Blackberry, Crimson, and Dazzling Blue.
