Dials fail quickly

I've put it through the wringer

This shoe was great for about 8 months, until one of the closure dials became unreliable... followed one month later by complete failure of another dial, making the shoes unusable. I've put 6000+ miles on a pair of Sidis with their proprietary dial and 5000 on a pair of Pearl Izumis with Boa dials, with zero issues with either type of closure. The Northwave dial is just substandard, and the quality of the shoe itself is overshadowed by the poor dials. As an aside, I decided to try Northwave due to their unique Speedplay adapter. It was a significant hassel to attach, and the cleat height turned out to be virtually indistinguishable from the standard Speedplay adapter. Not worth the cost or headaches.
