Cross-country shoes have a tough niche to fill. They echo the sentiments of the discipline as a whole by placing higher value on speed than stability and grip, but if speed were all that mattered, XC riders would just race in road shoes. Mavic's Crossride SL Elite Women's Cycling Shoes blend the lightness of a road shoe with the grip of a trail-specific shoe to provide you with the snappy power transfer you need to keep spinning the pedals quickly—all without being flimsy when the singletrack takes a turn from buttery towards rough.
Mavic trusts a traditional upper design for the Crossride SL Elites, equipping them to be durable enough to withstand brushes with trail furniture while adding airy mesh paneling to ensure they remain breathable. Two hook-and-loop straps work with an Ergo Ratchet buckle to allow you to achieve a secure fit that ensures reliable power transfer without creating pressure points along the top of your foot, while an Ergo Fit 3D Ortholite insole provides cushioning along the bottom of your foot to keep you comfortable on longer rides.
When you're pedaling, the fiberglass-reinforced nylon Energy Grip Terra Outsole delivers your valuable watts efficiently to the pedals, while its Contagrip rubber lugs give you the confidence to venture off the XC race course and onto the trails, providing traction during sticky situations or impromptu detours to take in hard-won views.
