Feet heat.

Between the rain, snow, cold, and sand and salt on the roads, the winter months can be quite unkind to cyclists. Fortunately, Louis Garneau's New Protect II Shoe Covers provide an economical solution to the first three. Their key feature is 2 millimeters of waterproof, insulating neoprene, which keeps your feet dry and warm in winter's worst conditions. The soles will accommodate mountain bike or road bike shoes, and the outside and heels are embellished with reflective details to help keep you visible to motorists in low-light conditions.

The Louis Garneau Neo Protect II Shoe Covers are available in five sizes ranging from X-Small to X-Large and the color Black.

Needs toe reinforcement.

This show cover is the easiest one I've tried to put on. Realistically, you sometimes put on a shoe cover sometimes as the thunderstorm is hitting and you do not have a lot of time to put it on along with all of your other storm gear. Other products have failed me miserably in that regard. I was still fiddling while getting drenched. These covers also keep me dry and warm. I've used them in wet snow and they didn't even ice up very much. That's helpful. One drawback, like I've seen with many others that friends wore, is the front piece. You'll spend a bit of time walking on surfaces, usually wet, with these on. The front came apart quickly, and soon became useless in holding the cover one. Although we should only wear them while attached or on top of pedals, you still need to stop, put your foot down, and push off from pavement, gravel, and the like. The thin material there needs beefing up to withstand this high wear point. I wear a size 46 cycling shoe and got the XL size. They work well for fit.

Great warmth even on windy days

Brought these booties last summer for the fall season. They are worth the money as they are not bulky and was easy to put on/take off with the heel velcro closure . The neoprene actually provided too much warmth on upper 30 to 40 degree temperature.

Beat the trainer.

I hate the trainer. If you're an actual person and not a high-performance robot, you probably do, too. I love these booties because they keep me off the trainer in temperatures into the low 30s.

**** you, trainer.

Did the job!

I'm happy to say that these worked as advertised. Feet were warm and dry. I also wore wool socks for added protection. Even kept my feet dry after going through a few deep muddy puddles on a recent cross country mountain bike ride.

Brighten your world!

Florescent Yellow really stands out for pre-dawn rides. I purchased these glowing beauties to fit over my Shimano MTB cleats, and pleasantly found they are a great cold morning quick fit on road cleats too! For colder mornings I put toe covers over the top.

Warm, bright, could be tougher

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear these for road biking and I bought them in bright yellow. With mountain bike shoes (Giro Rumble) and a single pair of socks, these are comfortable wet or dry to about 40F. Beyond that, I add chemical toe warmers and have been comfortable as low as 26F. The visibility is great; yes I know I look like a dork, but you can't possibly miss me when these are spinning down the road! Could be more durable - there is a section of fabric under the toe with holes for spikes. The threads attaching this seems to fail very easily (road biker not walking around in these; mostly just foot down at stoplights and 20 feet to and from my front door). That said, it is not critical just looks ragged. When they finally give out I'm not sure if I will re-stitch myself or just buy a new pair at this price point.

Developed a hole in about 15 rides

I give these 3 stars because it won't let me submit the review if I choose 1 star. I would give them zero if I had that option. These developed a hole on the side where my shoe ratchet is. I ordered them 31 days ago so Comp Cyc won't let me return them (unless they are in new condition). They didn't really work anyway. I was trying to give them a good chance because I wanted them to work. My feet got both cold and wet riding here in the Pacific Northwest. Also, they are advertised as 3mm neoprene but the tag on them said 2mm neoprene. I believe the tag because these were pretty thin. Don't waste your money.

I want waterproof shoe covers for walking, not riding, and for a trip where I don't have a lot of luggage space so I want shoe covers that are light and can fold up fairly flat in my suitcase. Would these work?

They might work for walking in rain as long as you aren't walking through puddles, since there is no bottom on these. I would choose walking/hiking shoes with a Goretex (or other brand) waterproof membrane.

great covers

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

rode 30 miles in a down pour, feet stay pretty much dry and warm. Every one else who didn't have them was socked and cold. Glad I had them.

great covers

Bomb Proof

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This is a heavy duty, keep that cold away from my toes type bootie. Durability has been fantastic throughout the winter. Very easy to take on and off, with a very low risk of tear.

Best Shoe Covers, ever

I ride mountain bikes. Going through shoe covers at a minimum of annually is not uncommon. Have to say, these are the BEST I have ever worn. There are even cutouts on the bottom for spikes (in addition to cleats). They are simple, easy to put on, easy to take off, and roll up into your jersey pocket. Oh, and did I mention, that they are super warm! Ridden them at 0deg F with no issues.
