Take off on brisk fall rides and feel the wind in your hair as you barrel through arcing bows of changing leaves in the Ion Shelter Softshell Jacket. Built for the grey days with ominous clouds that have you questioning whether a ride is the right thing to do, the Shelter Softshell provides a barrier against the wet and windy, so you can keep riding beyond the so-called riding season. The jacket begins construction with a tough and stretchy blend of polyester and elastane that offers ample give for layering, and doesn't restrict movement when you're trying to whip your bike around steep switchbacks. It cuts through the wind and provides a shield from harsh weather, thanks to its DWR coating that keeps water rolling off without hindering breathability. The softshell doesn't feature thick insulation, though it does wick away sweat to keep you dry, and traps heat inside as best as it can. It does, however, have a relaxed fit, so you can throw on a thermal jersey and base layer should you be embarking on a frosty winter ride. Its hood is adjustable and fits over a helmet with ease, so when a shower breaks out, or frosty white flakes are falling from the sky, you can keep your noggin dry and as toasty as possible, without sacrificing safety.
