Being clipped into your bike has certain advantages, especially when competition is the name of the game. 4X and DH racing, however, demand a unique combination of platform and clip-in style pedals to permit quick recovery when un-clipped. The Giro Chamber Shoe has a nice, stiff insole for being connected to a pedal without hot spots, yet it has a Vibram outsole for traction on pedals when not fully clipped.
The Chamber's internal, molded SPD shank is designed to nest within the EVA midsole to keep the shoes' profile and SPD connection as low as possible. This lets your foot reside close to the pedal axles to encourage efficient spinning for out-of-the-gate performance. The midsole has Poron XRD in the heel cup, that along with a bootie retention system, ensures a secure fit without any energy lost to heel lift.
The Poron located in the heel cup also helps to absorb impact during a bail. Those bails can wreak havoc on a shoe's upper, so Giro equipped the Chamber with a durable, rubber-reinforced toe box. The synthetic leather upper is ventilated for breathability, and a hook-and-loop strap prevents the Chamber's laces from turning into a meal for your drivetrain.
The Giro Chamber Shoe comes in whole sizes from 37 to 48 and two colors; White and Black/Gum.
