Why We Like The Index S2 Smart Scale

Whether you're training for a tri, making a commitment to getting healthy, or just working on getting ready for summer, Garmin's Index Smart Scale makes sticking to your plan a whole lot easier. It does all the classic scale things: weighing in pounds, kilograms, and even stone. It also tracks body mass index, body fat percentage, bone mass, and skeletal muscle mass, all of which are important data points for high-level athletes. The Index can recognize and remember up to 16 different users, and of course it can sync to Garmin Connect, the online platform that lets you track and analyze all your workout data, so you can see exactly how your workouts correspond to your goals.

Still does not hook up to my wifi.

Weight inconsistent, does not note my posted name, took several tries.. Afraid to open my new Blood pressure device now... Does not hook up easily to my wifi. Need passwords! Unhappy I with it..

Disappointing

I bought the scale a while ago. After my withings scale broke The UI is kind of clunky but I can’t change the profile on the scale, it doesn’t connect my connect app — my partner weighed themselves on it before I did and now only their guest profile shows up. They weigh a lot less than me, garmin connect took their weights and messed up all my training readiness. There’s no simple way to delete the data or have the scale recognize my user. Very disappointing

it does what its supposed to

I like it makes it easier for me since it automatically inputs the data into the Garmin app. The only trick I had to learn was how to get it to turn on consistently, do a double tap and it turns on.

Terrible Connectivity

I really enjoyed the integration with the Garmin ecosystem when it connected, but that deteriorated over the first year. Now it won't connect to my wifi at all. All of the prescribed solutions have failed. My other Garmin devices connect without issue (Edge 530, Index BPM). For now the S2 is destined to be recycled. I hope futures scales have a better radio.

Integration

The scale does more than weigh you. It gives you an idea about other bodily stats. Plus, it feeds into my other health tracking data, and as a nerd, this is good for me. It also means that once I step on the scale and stand there a few seconds, I don't have to track anything more.

useless if you do not have a Garmin account

I bought this to put in one of our bathrooms. The other has a WIthings scale. They differ a bit in the weight (Garmin reports about 2% lighter and a lot less fat %). I am not sure which is correct. The big disappointment with the Garmin S2 is that you must have a garmin connect account to get anything but weight and weather from the scale. No body mass data, no water, no fat, nothing but the weight. No history either - but that makes sense if it does not know who you are. Other scales give all the data and store an Unknown user. The information for that user can be saved with an existing user or discarded. I would not recommend this to anyone because it requires accounts for users.

Average so far

I bought the S2 scale a couple of weeks ago. I had the previous version for quite some time, but it ran its course. The same issues I've been reading online are true about this scale. The accuracy of the body fat feature is still an issue. I've toggled the settings from 4 to 10, attempting to get a solid reading. It still list me as having double the body fat.
