Description

Streamlined and sophisticated.

Improving upon the ever-popular Fenix 3, the Garmin Fenix 5S retains the original's sport-tracking capabilities, but in a streamlined 42-millimeter case that's perfect for the smaller wrists of female wearers. Updated to be more user friendly than before, the QuickFit band can be swapped out without the need for tools or screws (additional bands sold separately). This gives you the ability to quickly swap bands when you're traveling between work and the gym.

One of the most comprehensive sport watches on the market, the Fenix 5S features a wrist-based heart rate monitor, alongside pre-loaded sport and activity profiles for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. This means you won't have to deal with a chest strap monitor, which is a big plus for day hikes in the mountains, bike rides after work, and rigorous outings on the weekend. For dedicated athletes seeking the most accurate heart-rate data, it still retains compatibility with Garmin's ANT+ chest strap offerings.

Advanced Performance Metrics deliver both aerobic and anaerobic benefits from grueling workouts, so you can see how it's paying off in the long run and compare yourself to peers of your own age. There's a heap of Advanced Running Dynamics for avid runners seeking data like lactate threshold, cadence, and stride length. To accommodate your multi-sport lifestyle, the Fenix 5S comes with outdoor profiles for hiking, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, stand-up paddleboarding, and skiing/snowboarding, among others.

We'd be amiss to forget the GPS and GLONASS tracking on the Fenix 5S, which quickly lock onto satellites for accurate navigation. You'll find the GPS is crucial for point-to-point navigation, as well as getting you back to the trailhead with its nifty TracBack feature. The 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter come in handy for assessing your bearings in the backcountry, tracking incoming storms, and monitoring elevation changes in the mountains.

  • Smaller 42mm band is ideal for female wearers

Cannot believe what I found in box

As for the watch, I’m sure it will be amazing. I had a Fenix 5 for a while but returned it (not purchased through Backcountry) bc of the size (too large and heavy). I loved the 5, though, and I also had a Forerunner 735. When I saw the Garmin watches on sale at Backcountry I knew I had to have a 5s. It arrived today and I couldn’t wait to open it up and when I did...see the picture of how I received my $600 watch. This picture was taken immediately upon opening the shipping box. The watch was even on, probably from banging around in the box for 3 days. My last 2 Garmin watches were shipped to me and arrived off (in SEALED Garmin boxes with packing material in the shipping box). Appalling. REI and Amazon do a way better job of packaging to ensure my items arrive in good condition.
