Focusing on rider comfort and protection, Assos' Trail Liner Bib Short checks all the boxes on performance-readiness for epic trail sessions. Designed to be worn under Assos's TRAIL Cargo short —but fitting under most trail baggies — the Liner Bib's Aerofit fabric seems rather ironic, however, its ventilation and high-stretch make it ideal for your flat-out trail sessions. Stow your provisions securely in the mesh Ramp Pockets that combat heat buildup and are also positioned high enough on the bibs to avoid sharing space with your outer-short's waistband. Deep breathing on the climbs, you'll likely appreciate the AZPtech waist construction that supports heavy movement without pinching.
Assos offers removable impact pads, sold separately, that are 8mm thick for added protection during flat-out practice sessions or if you don't quite know the route you're taking. Underneath is Assos' OFF-ROAD Liner EVO Insert variable density chamois that targets thickness at the rear, which they feel more appropriately accommodates up-right mountain bike riding positions. And silicone-free leg grippers hold tight while you focus on the ride.

Top quality - not great for dad bods
- Familiarity:

Bought the bibs with the matching trail shorts. Was amazed by how light these are compared to others I own and of the construction quality. Did not come with hip pads and that was clear when I ordered them. I am returning based on fit; they didn't fit my dad bod soft belly, in fact they pushed up my belly and it was not flattering to say the least. Maybe the look in the mirror with these on will motivate to ride more and lose weight- probably not. I would recommend for slimmer folks as the quality of material and construction felt really good.

I'm a big fan of the Assos road kits. After a recent spill on my mountain bike, I decided to try these liners since they (purportedly) offer hip protection. The bibs are well constructed and fit like a glove but did not arrive with the hip padding. I checked the Assos website and they're out of stock on the pads. Fail. I purchased some D30 armor on Amazon and plan to cut the armor down to fit the Assos padding sleeve. I like the bibs but am disappointed in Assos for not including the padding clearly pictured. Update - missing pads aside, I've used a bibs a dozen or so times and they're great. The bibs work really well with the trial shorts. The pockets on the Assos trail shorts are pretty pointless (they're small and oddly placed - my only complaint on otherwise perfect shorts) but this is offset by the back pockets in the bibs. These two really compliment each other well. Shorts 5*. Missing pads -2*.

Straps too short
- Familiarity:

- L and XL

I usually wear a L and sometimes an XL in Assos. The non-bib L fits great. The L bib is too short and pulls heavily on my shoulders when in the biking position. Bummer. The XL is short as well and the pad seems a bit larger than my road gear. I suspect the length issue has to do with different materials. My road straps seem to stretch more easily than the trail bibs. Not sure why the seems are in the middle, but I couldn't notice them on the non-bib trail liners while riding. 74.5" 180lbs. BTW: pas came only with my non-bib trail liners.
