Mille GT Ultraz Winter Bib Tight

Assos thrives on engineering performance wear for cycling, which is tuned for every condition you may encounter season after season. In the new Mille GT Ultraz Winter Bib Tight, Assos gracefully threads the fabrics between a heavily-insulated assault on winter and the lighter-weight performance insulation you need to excel on critical training rides. In the regular-fitting GT Ultraz, you’ll find a water-resistant front and glute membrane made of Assos’ NEOS Ultra — that is also 100% windproof — to protect from rain-soaked valleys, and snow flurried mountains. Front-facing RX Heavy thermal fabric rests against your thighs and glutes to keep your major muscle-groups warm and performance-ready, while the rear legs and calves receive RX Light insulation to allow for heat loss when you hit the intervals and need to stay cooler.

Assos pre-shapes their fabrics, so when you are in or out of the saddle, you’ll have supported muscles and the ideal range of motion without stitch-pulling or limiting stretch at the knees. A Mille GT EVO chamois that uses 3D waffle patterning for breathability is stitched into the GT Ultraz using performance threads that allow for 3D movement. At 8mm of thickness, the chamois performs during long winter base miles without adding bulk. For low-light riding, the calves have a wrapped reflective stripe to add visibility.

  • Assos’ most protective bib tight in a regular fitting style
  • Winter-proven, double-layer resists water and is windproof
  • Thermal brushed layer under a winter-ready exterior membrane
  • Thermal-light rear layer allows for heat loss
  • Lightly compressive fit for base-miles comfort
  • Medium-thickness chamois protects without adding bulk

Note: Assos clothing has a very slimming, anatomic cut, if your build is less than slim or if you like your fit looser, go up in size.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Snug fit

I returned this product before using it

I wanted to like these bib. Unfortunately, I have muscular quads / calfs and it was a real struggle to get these bibs on...they must be designed for cyclist with skinnier legs. For a moment, I thought I would have to call for help. That said, the fabric is sturdy with a wind-stop feel and they should provide plenty of cold weather protection with uber compression too. The construction is typical Assos quality without any unnecessary seams.

I love these Assos winter tights. I also have Passione, Gore, Le Col winter tights but these are the best. You need to be somewhat careful when you put them on since they are pretty snug but once on the compression is awesome and they are super comfortable. Fantastic cold and wind protection. FYI - I’m 5’11” and 185 lbs and have about a 34 inch waist and large is perfect. I own a lot of. One clothing and Assos has always outperformed everything else. It’s costly but well worth it. Do yourself a favor and get these along with their other ultraz gear.

I purchased this in December, I have used it about 6x. Weather 27-39 deg. This has been an awesome product, with no issues. Fabric has held up with no issues. Yes, I plan on buying a second pair.

I've only worn it twice, but I have lint

I've only worn it twice, but I have lint. It was a clear ride, and s-works power saddle. I think this product has a serious problem with the fabric.

Man. That sucks especially at that price.

I just saw your review and checked my new tights, and I have the same problem!! Total of 4 hours in the saddle, S Works power saddle, and have exactly the same wear showing. My 4 other sets of Assos bibs (Mille GT, Habu, Cento) do not show this problem, so I am thinking it could be the material used. For now, I would say I cannot recommend these, go with the Habu tights instead.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on my new Mille Ultraz bibs once the winter relents enough that I can use them. Hard to see in a photo, but to me that looks more like pilling than lint. Pilling = little balls of rolled-up fibers that form on the surface of a soft fleece-y fabric due to rubbing against other fabric or skin; lint = detached bits of fibers, often cotton or wool, such as one finds in a dryer filter. Piling can happen during washing, so can be minimized by washing by hand (no thanks!) or in a washing machine by putting the item into a mesh bag (available on Amazon) to keep it from rubbing against other articles during agitation parts of the cycle. Supposedly pilling does not affect the function of the fabric.

OK, so I've used mine three times now and don't see anything like what is shown in the photo, the fabric in the seat area looks perfect. I use Selle SMP Dynamic saddles, with the basic leather cover. One possibility: could they wave been washed loose in the machine together with another garment with a zipper, perhaps unzipped?

That's very odd. I think you may have something else going on. I've owned a predecessor to this tight for years and use their S9 bib shorts standard without issue. But your experience concerns me esp., with the price tag. I wonder if Assos would give you a refund.
