EL Jefe XX1 Eagle AXS Mountain Bike

The El Jefe XX1 Eagle AXS Mountain Bike takes the adventure bike from Why Cycles to the next level with a burly titanium frame, forward-thinking geometry, and a top-tier components spec. Titanium provides the vibration damping effects of aluminum with a weight that’s closer to carbon for the perfect balance. Why Cyles specs this bike with a 120mm-travel fork from RockShox for a capable feel on trail adventures that’s still super supportive and efficient for training. The El Jefe’s 67.5-degree head tube angle is not far off from modern full suspension trail bikes, providing stability in technical terrain, even with a full bikepacking gear load. The El Jefe is also ready for cross-country racing, with an adjustable chainstay length ranging from 425mm to 440mm that lets us fine-tune the rear end for either maneuverability or stability depending on the course. Four total bottle mounts let us easily attach all of the gear we could possibly need for XC trail rides or bikepacking adventures.

This top-spec build kicks things off with SRAM’s XX1 Eagle AXS 12-speed electronic drivetrain that supplies instant shifting at an impressively light weight. The SID Ultimate fork is the most capable offering from RockShox within their cross-country line, perfectly balancing downhill capability with pedaling efficiency. Carbon RW27 wheels from Revel respond quickly to rider input for both speed and control while keeping weight to a minimum. Grippy Maxxis rubber keeps us locked into the corners while rolling quickly in the flats.
