Loafer-compatible.

You'd rather commute than drive around town any day, but when you're on your commuter frame, you usually leave the Lycra behind with your carbon race bike. Cruising around in business-casual or just weekend casual clothes doesn't necessitate clipless pedals, so VP Components created the VP-831P Bauhaus Pedal. The platform pedal was designed to be used with your commuter or E-bike to get around town easily. It provides added security in the form of a grippy sandpaper atop a surface that's specifically shaped to help hold your foot in place while you're wearing flat-soled shoes. The nylon body spins smoothly on a forged, CNC-machined Cromoly steel axle, and sealed bearings and reflective strips on the body of the pedal help increase visibility.

Nice pedals, perfect for cruisers

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Recently built up a single speed cruiser/bar bike and these pedals are perfect. So far they are smooth and quiet. What drew me to these, other than them being super affordable, is the grip tape platforms. Perfect for cruising around in flip-flops or thin-soled sneaks (or even barefoot if I wanted) without the more aggressive teeth or pins most platform pedals have jamming into my feet. Also, they look pretty rad on my bike.

Solid

I am running these on a commuter and they are working well. Low profile and just enough grip for any shoe. Only downfall is they are a little ugly.
