The things we carry.

While designed to perfectly fit the Thule Tour Rack, the Pack 'n Pedal Commuter Pannier will still install on either side of virtually any conventional rear rack. It's also waterproof, so its roll-top opening is the only possible point of aquatic ingress. In addition to a small storage pocket, the interior features a secure annex for laptops up to 15in, and a host of straps keep the cargo secure and tidy.

When not in use, the mounting hardware is hidden by a magnetic flap. As a result, it won't snag anything while you're toting the bag with the hand loop or detachable, cross-shoulder messenger strap. The Pack 'n Pedal Commuter Pannier is constructed from a durable, abrasion-resistant fabric that resists weather and tarmac alike, so on those unfortunate days when rain slicked asphalt threatens wash outs while cornering, at least your laptop will be safe. The pannier is finished with reflective detailing, which will come in handy by helping to keep you visible to other road users on those overcast days.

Problems with durability

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ordered the adventure touring pannier less than three months ago and use it for my daily commute to work. It's a slightly different model than this pannier - but the mechanism for connecting it to your bike is the same. The mounting hardware consists of two clips that attach to the frame when you rotate open them open by pulling a cable - they rotate to close when you release the cable. The mechanism that rotates one of the clips has already given out on my pannier in less than three months of moderate usage. I think that the concept, although clever, is over-engineered and clearly not durable.

Awesome pannier design

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pannier design makes it extremely easy to use. Easy on, easy off and good looking too. A clever magnet helps hold the bottom of the pack close to the bike and keeps it easy to use. Thule has how to videos which make learning this product easier. The flip panel can pinch your fingers the first time you use it until you figure out exactly how to press of the metal plate. The top has a nice and simple way of rolling closed. Even though I haven't used in in bad weather yet it seems extremely weather proof. Even when really full and heavy the shoulder strap makes it easy to carry.
