Item # SYN0005

Fatter, stronger, and lighter.

With oversized handlebars being de rigueur for road and mountain bikes these days, you need a stem that is equally as stiff and strong. Syntace took the design of its legendary F99 stem and parlayed it into the F109, to fit oversized 31.8mm handlebar clamps.

Syntace forged the Force 109 from high-strength aluminum alloy. This material, along with 3D forging, keeps strength at a maximum and weight at a minimum. In addition, it's equipped with titanium bolts to shave every gram of weight possible. The faceplate makes handlebar changes quick, and you won't have to contort your fingers to squeeze a hex wrench into an awkwardly-placed bolt head. The "bed" for the handlebar is 20 degrees deeper than a standard 180, at 200 degrees. This allows your handlebar to sit deeper into the stem, which helps to decrease bar flex and increase fatigue life.

The Syntace Force 109 Stem is available in several lengths and degree options: 60mm/6deg, 75mm/6deg, 90mm/6deg, 90mm/17deg, 100mm/6deg, 100mm/17deg, 110mm/6deg, 110mm/17deg, 120mm/6deg, and 135mm/6deg. It comes in the color Black.

  • Accommodates oversized 31.8-millimeter bars
  • 3D-aluminum construction
  • 200-degree "bed"
  • Titanium bolts
  • Suitable for use with aero bars

Syntase website says it can be used on road bike, mountain bike. CC site just recommends mountain bike. Can it be used on a road bike?

yes it can. im running it on my road bike.

The Best Stem

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If only we sold it in -17. This is a perfect example of German engineering: simple, lightweight/strong, and very tight tolerances. Can't ask for more.

Bang for the Buck

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When push comes to shove, not many stems combine toughness and lightness (100g) as does the Syntace F109. Syntace pays attention to the details and abides to standards well above those required of them before allowing their products to find their way to market. For these reasons, the F109 been a staple in my bike stable for tens of thousands of miles (previously the F119).
