Campagnolo Record L Gen 3 Power Meter Crank Arm

You ride Campagnolo Record not because it was simply a choice, you sought it out because you love the heritage, maybe it's what you grew up riding, or you build all your bikes from the ground up and wanted a little something different than the "S" brands' offerings. It would be downright blasphemous to deviate from the heart of the drivetrain, the crankset, by running a third party offering but we do understand your desire in having the ability to capture power data on rides. Well, now you can have your cake and eat it too with the Campagnolo Record L Gen 3 Power Meter Crank Arm from Stages Cycling. Pair this non-driveside arm with your perfectly fine drive-side arm and enjoy the endless data and specific training to help you get faster on your bike without harshing the excellent aesthetic and design that Campy brings to the table.

The Record crankset is a marvel to behold with its lightweight hollow carbon crank arms, smooth shifting rings, and silky spinning USB ceramic bearings. In fact, the only way to upstage this crankset would be to move to the appropriately named Super Record, which incorporates even smoother CULT ceramic bearings, but if we actually had to choose between running Super Record sans power meter, or standard Record with this Stages device, we'd take this version every day. The addition of the power sensing pod on the inside of the arm can do so much more to transform your training and racing than the marginally smoother and slightly lighter weight Super Record ever could.

Inside that pod are strain gauges and an updated Gen 3 accelerometer that measures force and rotations and delivers that power data to your head unit through stronger Bluetooth LE and ANT+ radios with a claimed accuracy of +/-1.5%, which is very much in-line with the other quality power meters on the market. As with all of its other meters, this one also incorporates Stages' Active Temperature Compensation (ATC), which adjusts for the natural expansion and contraction of the strain gauges by adjusting the readings depending on the fluctuating temperatures without having to zero out the system. Overall, the power meter adds less than 15 grams to the standard crank, which is a small price to pay for the ability to find limits, train smarter, and monitoring efforts on both hard and easy days.

  • Add power measurement to the legendary Campy Record crankset
  • Measures power with an industry-standard +/-1.5% accuracy
  • Active Temperature Compensation accommodates changing conditions
  • Updated accelerometer covers cadence with no additional sensors
  • More powerful wireless communication improves signal strength
  • Pairs with Stages Power App for firmware updates and zero resets
  • 200+ hour battery life with easily-changeable CR2032 battery
  • Compatible with cranksets that have 10mm of clearance from chainstay

Works like a charm

I've used it several times

Before buying, you should be cautious that you have clearance between the left frame stay and left crank arm because the battery compartment does stick out a tad. Performance wise, it installed easily and setup with my computer (Wahoo) and indoor app (TrainerRoad) like a breeze. Power seems highly accurate as you'd expect. I like that the battery is easy to replace, easier than, say, a PowerTap hub. I don't really notice that it's a one sided system at all and it just works.
