The SRAM PC-1071 Chain is the least expensive chain in the SRAM lineup made with hollow pins. These hollow, chrome hardened pivot pins will save you 20 grams or so in comparison to a lesser chain with solid pins, but they're plenty strong so the durability is not sacrificed. It's a refined version of the 1070, with a subtle reshaping of the outer plates to make it run quieter. It's made specifically for 10-speed drivetrains and mates perfectly with the tooth shaping and pickup/release points on SRAM's cassettes and chainrings for flawless shifting performance.
Only one detail differentiates it from the top of the line PC-1091 -- though it has nickel plating on the outer link plates, it lacks this corrosion resistant coating on the inner link plates. You'll just need to make sure that you keep your PC-1071 chain well-lubricated and it will serve you well. You can install a PC-1071 Chain without special tools thanks to SRAM's PowerLock connecting link. No other sub-6mm chain in the marketplace shares this feature. And unlike the occasional headaches we're all familiar with when it comes to Shimano HG pins and Wippermann connecting links, the PowerLock link is as strong or stronger than any other link on the chain, and it won't hinder shift quality in the least.
The SRAM PC-1071 Chain is compatible with both SRAM and Shimano 10-speed drivetrains. Please note that while the PowerLock installation can be done tool-free, it's recommended to be used only once due to the extremely close tolerances required by the narrow 10-speed design. So if you must break your chain for maintenance reasons, a new 10-speed PowerLock link will be required to reassemble it.

Man, I'm so glad the industry is pumping 11&12speed now, because 10s is still great and the prices have tanked. I think this "Force" level chain is the best performance/price, since the "Red" chain (1091) is basically the same thing but with inner plate Ni plating. If you maintain your chain, you don't really need the extra corrosion resistance. And I ride in marine environments.
I'm on my third 1071 now. 2800 miles on the first, 3400 (went a bit long) on the second. Currently have 542.5 miles on this one. Shifts fine, can't complain. The hollow pins always end up filling with grease/grime - oh well.
I carry extra links but have never broken this chain *knock*. 50/34-12/28.

Well what is there to say about this chain that hasn't already been said? Well first off the chain is affordable and will last for many miles to come. It is lightweight and provides smooth shifts. The Powerlock Link is awesome, especially for trail side repairs or general cleaning and maintenance.
Looks like everything I have to say about this chain has been said time and time again. So, I guess it is time for you to purchase the chain and find out for yourself how good it truly is.

Sram's 70 lineup has been a staple in my stable of bikes. Between cassettes and chains, I find it to the best trio of performance, weight, and their friend money. The 1070 chain seems to have a bit more nickel plating compared to the 1050 for better wear and durability in my experience. Sram's Powerlink makes installation and trailside repairs really simple, but I find myself worshiping the concept the most when taking the chain off my bike to degrease.

This is my go-to 10-speed chain. It's pretty light, and has proven to be super durable. The SRAM tool-free PowerLock is a bonus for cleaning or trailside repair as well.
