Why We Like The S-Works Power with Mirror Saddle
Continuously pushing the industry forward with rider-focused, innovative technology, Specialized changes the saddle game with the S-Works Power with Mirror. Variable density foam has apparently had its fun and it’s time for 3D printed liquid polymer to take over to give us that next level of comfort and soft tissue protection for our lifelong commitment to hours in the saddle. Mirror refers to Specialized’s 3D printing that is visible as the Power Mirror’s polymer-based honeycomb lattice. Mirror aims to protect soft tissues and deliver greater comfort, which should save more energy to focus on racing for the win. The lattice gently gives way directly under the sit bones for an effect that Specialized relates to a hammock or a cradle. Pressure mapping on the Mirror reveals significantly reduced pin-point pressures on the sit bones compared to foam. The lattice is engineered for compliance to rebound and compress throughout the pedal stroke, giving optimized stability. We are particularly excited to test this out on the open roads and trails.
Specialized reinforces the Power Mirror with its renowned FACT carbon on both the shell and rails. This stiffness, combined with the Mirror’s compliance, offers a powerful and comfortable platform for on and off-road racing performance — not to mention a very competitive weight of sub-200 grams. As a short-nosed saddle, the Power Mirror positions you ideally for comfort and performance as well as stays clear of legs when getting after hard accelerations out of the saddle. The unique, dimpled cover on the saddle allows for smooth position adjustments when needed for cornering, climbing, or taking a short drop-in on the trail. Compared to the Power Arch and base Power saddles, the Power Mirror uses a moderately domed saddle shape with widths of 143 and 155mm to fit most pelvic shapes and sizes. Do note that the railing is 7 x 9mm and oversized, so it does not work with traditional, side-clamp seatposts designed for 7 x 7mm rails.
