Selle SMP saddles were designed with the overall objective of reducing pressure on the perineum and the pressing of neurovascular structures while riding. This is achieved through the Italian manufacturer's innovative designs and relentless research and development, with the Pro model leading the charge in this SMP4BIKE saddle collection.

The Pro is best suited for cyclists with medium-wide and wide pelvises, as it features a longer and wider body than other models in this range. It wears the distinct curvature and support features inherent to this group of saddles, with the characteristic "beak" shaped nose designed to provide a flat base while sitting, without excessive pressure on the genital area. SMP's pronounced central channel was also incorporated, which further reduces pressure on the pudendal nerve and surrounding soft tissue. The back of the saddle is raised for an enhanced seated pedaling position, where body weight is divided between the rear and lower part of the ischial tuberosity region. This shape also helps reduce overall pressure on the coccyx while riding over rough surfaces.

The saddle's foam elastomer padding gets wrapped in leather for the black version and a durable Lorica microfiber in the colored version. Its durable nylon/carbon composite shell rides on stainless steel rails, ensuring a secure perch that'll hold up for both road and mountain applications.

The Selle SMP Pro is available in one size (278 x 148mm) and in the colors Black, Red, and White. The Pro is handmade in Italy and has a claimed weight of 315 grams.

Best saddle I've ever found!

I've put it through the wringer

I spent years trying to find a saddle that I could stand for extended rides. Annually, I ride between 7,000 and 8,000 road miles, all on my road bikes. I'm almost 60. I need comfort in a racing saddle. This one fits the bill. I've tried others but always return to this one.

I've bought two of theses saddles......

I've put it through the wringer

and both have fallen apart. Get used to re-glueing the saddle cover to the frame. For what they cost these saddles start coming unglued way to fast. I've put 15,000+ miles on two of these saddles.

An investment in comfort

I've used it several times

My last saddle lasted 8 years and had 1000's of miles on it. When I started having numbness issues, I decided it was time for a replacement. Exhaustive research led me to the Selle SMP Pro. I was a bit nervous about the level of comfort it might provide, but it has not let me down. I have ridden about 600 miles on it since August of this year, and feel like it only took about half of the miles to break it in properly. I would agree with SMP's claim that it is the world's most ergonomic bike seat. I am 6'0 170lbs and the size is just right for me. Highly recommend, especially if you are experiencing numbness and pain from riding. This saddle is the cure.

Great seat for rough New Jersey roads

I've put it through the wringer

I went through 8 bad saddles before getting this one. Two of those saddles I'm stuck with, one I returned, and the others were borrowed. I kept going numb with these other saddles when riding Island Beach State Park down the jersey shore. That road is so bad, its like someone punching your crotch every 5 seconds. With those other selle italia, specialized, and fizik seats, you'd be numb for a whole day and a half after riding that road. With this smp pro saddle there is none of that, it's great! On top of that the red color matches my bike perfectly and I love the Italian flag ornaments on the seat which also matches my Italian bike. The seat is awesome, I'll be recommending it to anyone who has seat numb issues. --- Update March 25, 2015 --- I noticed recently that the white stiched text "SMP" has started to discolor. The white text is starting to turn black. I hand wash all of my bike clothes so it's possible that the black dye in my black bib shorts/tights never fully comes out and it could also be due to the dye that is in Dark Woolite laundry soap. I tried to clean the stiched letters on the seat with a shout wipe but it didn't seem to help. This is a minor complaint, the seat is still comfortable. I also bought a second SMP Pro seat in black to use on a bike I'm building this year.
