Lens Tints
SOLAR BLOCKER - REDUCES HIGH INTENSITY VISIBLE LIGHT IN BRIGHT LIGHTING CONDITIONS When enjoying those bright, sunny days, we face strong light that contains a very intense blue light. This specific high intensity light is responsible for those tired eyes and can even become dangerous when exposed frequently. SCOTT developed the Solar Blocker lens in order to filter out as many of these blue rays as possible, while keeping the ones that enhance definition and clarity.

LIGHT SENSITIVE - ADAPTS THE SHADE OF THE LENS TO GET THE BEST CONTRAST FOR EVERY LIGHT CONDITION SCOTT's Light Sensitive lenses engage photo-chromic technology and adapts automatically to sunlight intensity. These lenses react to light changes and within seconds the lens will either darken when the brightness gets stronger or lighten when the sunlight gets weaker. SCOTT's Light Sensitive innovative lens construction guarantees no influence from cold temperatures on the photochromic efficiency.

ENHANCER - ENHANCES CONTRAST IN OVERCAST AND MIXED CONDITIONS When skiing in mixed and overcast light conditions, the enhancer lens has the perfect tint. Letting in slightly more light than the Illuminator and paired with the Amplifier technology, this lens will help your eyes see every detail on the mountain.

ILLUMINATOR - INTENSIFIES DEFINITION IN FLAT LIGHT CONDITIONS The SCOTT Illuminator lens has been developed to let almost 90% of yellow and orange wave lengths pass the lens and emphasize the brightness perception, while shutting out the bad light to maintain a very good level of contrast and depth of perception.

Really Wanted to Like, Had to Return

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times
    Fit:
    True to size

I think the looks of these glasses are ok for the price, especially if you have a big face/head like me. They also seemed very durable and ready to stand up to the abuse probably better than the Oakleys I previously owned which were prone to scratching and the lenses peeled all too often. Visibility was fine, not as good as the Oakleys, but definitely good enough for me (road racer, often long days in the saddle year round). Unfortunately the fit was a bit tight around the temples. Also the lens replacement mechanism, although I appreciate the durable build and stability, was a pain. Taking off the nose piece was very awkward and also resulted in bad finger smudges. I was actually going to keep them regardless because for the price I still think they were a solid pair glasses, despite the shortcomings, however there was some weird unexplainable black staining on the top part of the frame that put these into the "it's not worth it" category. I think it might have to do with the gummy nature of the frame (vs the more plasticy, standard frame material that comes with Oakleys, etc.). But that is just a guess. I ended up spending $60 more to get some Smiths which are in the postal right now. It's a shame because I know Scott is not as competitive in this realm (from my impression) as some of the other brands and I really wanted to keep the less expensive, more utilitarian offering, but alas it did not work out. I hope my pair was just a fluke. Competitive Cyclist customer support was great as always. Returned these and paid the difference for the Smiths. Easy peasy.
