For the long haul.
Let's face it, the long haul is a really long haul. After 80km, everyone needs as much help as they can get. And while your personal jury might still be out on dedicated compressive apparel, a prudent compromise takes shape in the Santini Men's Gara 2.0 Bib Shorts.
For the construction of the shorts, Santini uses Thunderbike Power fabric to ensure a precise, comfortable, and compressive fit. This material supports the legs' muscle groups with a tight, compressive weave, which helps minimize the detriment of fatigue from road vibration and general strain. Additionally, Thunderbike Power is extremely breathable, and it has a heightened level of moisture management.
While high-end fabrics are fantastic, Santini's renown emanates from its characteristically Italian design and fit. Each pair features a multi-paneled, minimally seamed design that's cut to map to the contours of your body while in motion. To ensure a secure fit, Santini incorporates its external, silicone leg grippers. These grippers apply even pressure across the leg, so you won't experience any pinching or loss in circulation. For the uppers, Santini uses an open mesh design that's met with a tall brace system at the back and sides. This interface provides stability and support to the overall fit, while the mesh straps retain a high level of breathability.
The Gara 2.0 bib shorts feature Santini's exclusive GIT insert, which approaches comfort from two directions: abrasion reduction and support. It uses internal stitching throughout, so chafing or irritation as a result of contact is reduced. Further along these lines, Santini fashions the chamois from two foam layers with densities varying between two and four millimeters with a microfiber surface on the top layer that provides a smooth interface between chamois and skin. For support, the padding is thicker at key points of pressure, and the Twist Gel core soaks up road vibration and jarring shocks. Additionally, in combination with the microfiber, the chamois is able to effectively reduce heat and wick away moisture.
