Why We Like The Santa Cruz Nomad C GX Eagle Transmission Coil Reserve Mountain Bike

Whether we are bombing our local black diamond trails or training for our next race with a day filled with climbing and descending, the Santa Cruz Nomad is our weapon of choice when the day calls for a bike that can do almost everything. The Nomad is a long-travel enduro bike with aggressive geometry, a mixed-wheel setup, and 170mm lower-link VPP suspension. The Nomad was designed to bomb down the steepest hills and still remain efficient enough to climb back up and do it all over again. With a slack 63.8-degree head tube angle, the Nomad provides stability and confidence on steep descents by keeping the front wheel further in front of us, allowing us to go faster and have more confidence when things get rowdy. The Nomad's mixed-wheel setup takes its capability even further, with the 29-inch wheel up front granting monster tuck rollover capability. At the same time, the 27.5-inch rear tire allows us to whip the bike around corners easier and have more agility on flat ground. Size-specific chainstays ensure the optimal balanced and stable ride for all sizes, and a low top tube allows for more stand-over height to fit a broader range of riders. Size-specific seat tube angles, averaging at 77.5 degrees, ensure a perfectly centered position to be as efficient as possible on the climb back for all frame sizes. For bike park riding or the steepest and deepest trails, we flip the chip in the shock link, making our geometry lower, slacker, and longer for more confidence and a better center of gravity on steep trails. The Nomad is fitted with a Glovebox internal frame storage system that allows us to store our ride essentials in the frame's downtube. Additionally, integrated chainstay and downtube protectors keep our frame safe from rock strikes and chain slaps, while the shuttle guard allows us to throw our bike into the back of our truck bed so we can shuttle to the trailhead without worry about scratching or denting our downtube.

The GX Eagle Transmission AXS Coil Reserve build of the Santa Cruz Nomad features an electronic drivetrain, a coil-spring rear shock, carbon wheels, and quality components to give us a top-tier build at a less ten top-tier price point. Starting out with the frame, this version of the Nomad features Santa Cruz's Carbon C frame, which is made to the exact specifications of Santa Cruz's premium Carbon CC frame but with a slight weight penalty. SRAM's GX Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain provides the most advanced tech in the electronic shifting world. The GX Eagle Transmission drivetrain gives us flawless shifting under load, a near bombproof construction, and its same huge 12-speed 10-52-tooth gear range. Next, a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ Coil rear shock supplies us with excellent small bump sensitivity and ground-gripping traction on the steepest trails. Reserve's 30 HD carbon rims make for a stiff and predictable ride that helps to save weight and increase control. A RockShox Zeb Select 170mm fork gives us quality suspension performance and handles big hits with ease. Lastly, premium Maxxis Assegai and DHRII tires with DoubleDown casings support us under the heaviest of riding and supply tons of grip when flying downhill.

*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
