Of course, road and mountain bikes thrill us, but for many of us, the original thrill on two wheels came courtesy of those BMX bikes we propelled through the air beneath us as kids. And if you want to keep doing so? Build up a Santa Cruz Jackal Frame, and soar once more.
Leveraging its extensive experience manipulating alloys, Santa Cruz happily overbuilt the heck out of the all-aluminum Jackal, because it wanted the frame to take any degree of abuse and last as long as the dirt you're soaring over. Still, the frame comes in under five pounds, keeping it on the lighter end of the spectrum, especially compared to comparable steel frames.
With a bike park and jump track right there in their backyard, the riders and huckers at Santa Cruz have spent nearly a decade refining the Jackal's design and geometry. Exhaustively determined head tube and seat tube angles conspire into a super confident and controllable platform for a huge variety of riding. The rear dropouts are adjustable to allow for extremely precise adjustment of handling characteristics, too. You'll find ISCG-05 tabs alongside the tried-and-true 73mm threaded bottom bracket shell, because, like your love for building jumps, some things from our past are better to embrace than try to replace.
