5010 Carbon CC X01 Eagle AXS Reserve Mountain Bike

When we think about rallying post-work jumplines and searching for gaps and transitions within desert tech, we think of the 5010 Carbon CC X01 Eagle AXS Reserve Mountain Bike. Sant Cruz now builds up the 5010 with a 29in wheel up front for tearing through chunky trails without ever getting hung up and a 27.5in rear wheel for finessing corners and trail gaps with ease. Santa Cruz has taken the 130mm of rear VPP travel and tweaked the anti-squat and leverage curve to generate a touch more traction that comes in handy both for technical climbing and descending scenarios. The 5010 joins the in-frame storage club with its new Glovebox technology which lets us stow some riding essentials in the bike’s downtube. The head tube angle comes in at 64.9-degrees (low position) to match the long and slack trend for added stability at speed, without going to slack to retain precise steering characteristics for tight switchbacks.

This top-spec build features all of the bells and whistles to bring this bike into dream bike territory, starting with the ultralight Carbon CC frame construction. The Reserve 30HD wheels are also carbon for a reactive feel on the trail that accelerates quickly under pedaling. SRAM’s X01 Eagle AXS derailleur and shifter supply instant electronic shifting that’s super low maintenance. Top-tier suspension components from RockShox include a Super Deluxe Ultimate shock that features loads of adjustment and a Pike Ultimate fork with 140mm of travel. SRAM G2 RSC brakes deliver impressive stopping power without the weight of a full enduro or downhill brake set, and grippy Maxxis tires hook up in corners and are pretty light, thanks to EXO casing. This top-shelf build is an excellent option for the discerning rider who wants to cover lots of ground without sacrificing a fun, playful feel on the trail.
