Terrible durability and warranty

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

The shoe is a fine shoe. It rides well, feels fast, and has a very responsive, tight feel. The problem is the durability, and how truly awful Salomon's warranty policy department is. To begin, a MSRP $170 shoe should not ever, ever come with defects. But Salomon shoes can, and here’s what happens when they do: I tore the bottom of these shoes literally in the first two miles of use on completely normal trails with a couple rocks here and there. The shoe even had the tag still on them. Salomon's warranty department (after failing to respond to my emails for at least a week) was entirely dismissive of the product failure, stating, and I quote, "your product seems to have been caused by the fact that this is a soft ground shoe designed to be used on surfaces like grass, mud, and similar surfaces. This issue is not a warranty issue as this was the result of wearing the shoes on a different surface." So, unless you plan to use this shoe only on soccer fields, know that Salomon will tell you to pound sand if you get a defected shoe. I think it is entirely reasonable to expect a shoe company to have integrity when it has customers shelling out MSRP $170 for a pair of shoes – included in that price should be an insurance policy against duds. But, Salomon has no backbone, no integrity, and if you get a dud, don’t think that Salomon will care about you just because you spend a ludicrous amount on their shoe. This shoe is not worth your money, nor is this brand.

Terrible durability and warranty

Just posting because I've had the exact opposite experience with this shoe and saw this upon returning to buy another pair. Yes, the compound is soft as it is a SG shoe, but its not unusual for me to put 400-500 mile on a pair while running on every type of trail in UT. That said, if I were running on hardpark or very rocky trails exclusively, I would probably choose something else.

Two miles in...

This happened after two miles of completely normal trails. Imagine what it would look like after 50-100 miles! And they won't warranty your shoes when this happens. The shoe market is robust - spend your money elsewhere
