MonoRail Solo Platform Hitch Rack

Your friends are great and all, but they have the tendency to slow you down out on the trail. So say no to the boring group ride, secure your bike to the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Platform Hitch Rack, and head out for some serious one-on-one bonding time with your favorite singletrack loop.

Lightweight, compact, and easy to use, this hitch bike rack quickly loads your bike with platform wheel trays and ratcheting arms for a confident drive to the trailhead, and then folds against the car with a quick-release handle to tidy things up after you've put the bike away for the day. Two separate components that fit both 1.25-inch and 2-inch hitch receiver sizes come included in the box to get you on your way as quickly as possible, while the included anti-wobble locking hitch bolt keeps the rack tight and secure on the drive there and back again. RockyMounts also tossed in some locks to fasten the rack to your car, and then the bike to the rack, with just one key for simple convenience.
  • Compact, hassle-free hitch rack for just one bike
  • Wheel trays and ratcheting arms provide a secure carry
  • Folds easily to keep the rack out of the way when parked
  • Includes two components to fit hitch sizes 1.25in and 2in

On the monorail solo how far does the rack stick out from the hitch? What are the dimensions of the unit?

Awesome and very light

I was looking for something light with nice security. The locks are included, so this is a full package in one. This is perfect.

Good Quality

I've used it several times

Loved the rack. Easy to use and mount. I like the fact that is high enough for be out of the exhaust heat without compromising space for hatch opening.

Looking at the photos, it would appear this would not work with rim brake/direct mount bikes??? Or is there a different way that hook can orient so it’s not pulling against the fork?

The hooks on any platform rack can be put in different positions. Typically at about 11 or 1 o'clock. There's no reason to rest it against the fork.

Great Value!

I've put it through the wringer

I’ve researched dozens of the hitch racks and I can honestly say I’m glad I went with this one. The Rocky Mount MonoRail has exceeded my expectations and Backcountry had the best price . You won’t find a better functional and quality in the $200 price range Is there better hitch mounts out there ? Probably so but not in this price range! No regrets

Great rack!

I've put it through the wringer

I've been cycling for about six years now and simply threw my bike into the back of my cars (Nissan Xterra and then a Subaru Crosstrek), which meant, though, that I could never use the back seats (or really the back of the car!). So when I got a new car in September (another Subaru Crosstrek), I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a rack so I could actually use the rest of the car. I did some research and happened to come across this RockyMounts - and it's been great! Easy to get the bike in and out, seems quite secure (not had an issue so far), and really like that it tilts away so I have access to the back of the car, where I can now keep all my gear. And, compared to the alternatives, it's a great price. So glad I came across this and purchased it!

Excellent Design and Well Engineered

I agree with all the other reviews about this rack. This is truly a five star rated rack. The price of this rack is well worth it. I got a 50 pound ebike and drove the first 100 miles with the ebike mounted. Encountered speed bumps, pot holes, turns with no problems. Loading my heavy ebike was easy. A few simple contacts and it is done. No worries about it being unstable. The rack was mounted to the 2013 Honda Pilot.

I am looking at: RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Platform Hitch Rack - which says it takes an add on; however the add on says it does not support the 1.25" hitch. is that correct? You cannot add-on a second tray to the 1.25"?

Mark, I believe that restriction is for when using the extension on a 2 bike rack (to make it a 3 bike rack). My understanding is that the extension can be used on either mounting option for the single bike rack. See my reasoning below. The first point made is that it can be conve8to a 2 bike rack: https://rockymounts.com/collections/hitch-racks/products/monorail-solo-2-1-25 First bullet point states that only the 2" variant can be converted to a 3 bike rack: https://rockymounts.com/collections/hitch-racks/products/monorail
