Plenty of innovation happens inside and outside of UCI regulations, so deciding which side is best to be on comes down to what type of racing you'll be doing. With Profile Design's Prosvet Carbon Basebar, you won't be UCI-legal, but for plenty of triathlons, that's not a requirement. These bars strive to provide riders with an option that's aggressively aerodynamic while still controllable.
The Prosvet looks similar to Profile Design's Svet Zero basebars, but in exceeding the 3:1 ratio, it has a few key differences. Made from multi-directional carbon fiber to absorb road vibration and provide a stiff racing platform, the Prosvet has a more aggressive -20mm drop compared to the Svet Zero, orienting you farther forward, with brake extensions that include upturned rather than straight ends to allow for a wider variety of hand positions. The slim wings on the tops of the Prosvet are deeper than the similarly-shaped Svet Zero's, which helps create less drag but also provides stability and comfort while you're climbing a hill or riding back into transition — a nice practical extra that shows Profile Design didn't focus on speed at the expense of maneuverability with this model.
The Prosvet is compatible with a wide variety of extensions, and fits on 31.8mm diameter handlebars. To keep your racing bike looking clean, the bars come pre-slotted for use with Di2 components, and will only add about 200-220g to your frame depending on which width you choose.
