Crown Race Setting System

The Park Tool CRS-1 Crown Race Setter comes with six inserts to ensure that you won't deform your crown race as you pound it onto the fork crown. The CRS-1 set includes one universal setting tube, three 1" inserts, and three 1-1/8in inserts. If you have an oversized 1-1/4 or 1-1/2in steerer tube, you'll need the Park Tool CR15. The CRS-1 will work on forks of 340mm column length or less.

  • An innovative system for easy crown race setting
  • Six inserts for installing crown races on a variety of forks
  • Avoids hitting bearing surface to prevent potential damage
  • Easily mounts crown race with the tap of a hammer
  • Compatible with forks with 340mm steer tube or shorter

Which tool is this? The description says CRS-1 but the image is for a CRS-15.2 which are different tools.

Ditch the PVC pipe

I've used it several times

I used to use a wide piece of PVC with a cap on it to set crown races. This tool fits the races way more precisely and does not damage the race at all when installed. Perfect for the home mechanic who does all their service and building themselves. Will last a lifetime.

Add to your Toolkit

I've used it several times

If you build bikes or like to add tools to your home mechanic tool kit this tool is a great addition. If you don't build a lot of bikes you're better off taking your fork to your local shop to have a crown race installed. This tool will prevent mangling the crown race during installation. The photo below shows the Park CRS-15 in use installing a Chris King crown race (there is a Chris King crown race adaptor on there too which is not included with the Park tool).

You need one if you build!

I've used it several times

Over the years I have added alot to my tools and this is one if you build up alot of bikes you need. Simply works without you having to take your time to beat a crown race into the bike. Please don't use blocks of wood and do the hippie method! Get the right tools!
