Ksyrium Pro Wheelset - Tubeless

Mavic's Ksyrium platform is perhaps best recognized and responsible for the pre-built road wheel movement of the early 2000's. It also helped in establishing aftermarket wheels as an upgrade adding performance to your ride by lowering weight, upping the stiffness, all while having bombproof reliability and Pro-level credibility. The Mavic Ksyrium Pro Wheelset in Tubeless configuration continues the Ksyrium legacy while modernizing the rims to better pair with wider and tubeless tires without losing its heritage of versatility and durability.

The biggest news for this Ksyrium Pro model, is a widened internal rim width, up to 19mm from the 17mm internal rim width of previous, non-tubeless Ksyriums. Two millimeters may sound inconsequential, but it makes a huge difference if you want to move up to a wider tire. For 25 and 28mm tires, the wider rim supports the tire better allowing the sidewalls to take on a more vertical profile versus the light-bulb shape of a wider tire on a narrower rim. So with less sidewall bulge and a larger air volume, the rim/tire interface is more stable when cornering, you greatly reduce the chance of pinch flats (especially when run tubeless), and the ride quality is light-years better than with narrow rims and tires.

On the exterior of the rim, Mavic utilizes its Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions (ISM 4D) process to create the classic Ksyrium rim shape, which is milled between each spoke. This process serves to reduce rim weight and lower the rotational mass of the wheel for better responsiveness and acceleration than non-milled rims. Fore drilling allows anchoring of the nipples at the rim so strength and stiffness is not lost. Strong oversize Zicral alloy spokes are lightweight and stiff further enhancing the explosive acceleration of these wheels. Getting up to speed from a dead-stop or grabbing a few gears before launching an attack at the base of a climb are all a little easier when the moment of inertia is lower.

To round out the wheelset, Mavic includes 25mm tubeless Yksion Pro tires, and are designed to work in conjunction with the wheels optimizing the interface between wheel, tire, and road. The Yksion Pro Griplink on the front utilizes a softer, sticky compound and a tread pattern designed to cut through standing water. Kevlar puncture reduction belt adds extra flat protection without increasing rolling resistance. For the rear tire, the Yksion Pro Powerlink utilizes nylon reinforced casing and a slightly longer-wearing compound than the Pro Griplink. The rear tire's tread pattern is designed to increase rolling efficiency and maintain a supple road feel. Paired together, the Mavic Ksyrium Pro tubeless WTS Wheelset and Yksion Pro tires make for a smooth, responsive ride in any condition.
