Why We Like The Lazer G1 MIPS Helmet
We choose the G1 MIPS Helmet for our road rides because the ventilation and aerodynamic profile make it an efficient option for logging miles. 22 total vents keep us cool and Lazer’s Rollsys retention system provides a 360degree fit and comfort in a lightweight design that adjusts from the top of the helmet and away from our hair. For added peace of mind, a MIPS layer in the G1 redirects rotational forces in the event of an impact.

Beautiful helmet, just didn't fit

I ordered the light blue sunset in size Medium at the recommendation of CC customer service. I currently own and love the Z1, but it's now over 5 years old and in need of replacement. I measured 56cm, and normally take a small in helmets (my Z1 is a small) but that wasn't available in the G1 in this color. Since my size puts me between the Small or Medium, customer service checked and said the shape of this helmet (more oval than the Z1, which is pretty round) would still fit me. It is even prettier in person, but when I put it on, it definitely looked a bit big to me. I had to move the sizing wheel almost to the tightest level, and it fit, but there was a large gap in the back of the helmet between the plastic frame that tightens down and the helmet itself. I just felt that it had unnecessary room and it really looked like I should go with a small. I'll have to wait until Lazer restocks it and will try again. Even the white in a size small is out of stock here :(.

Long hair gets caught in MIPS buttons
- Familiarity:

This helmet was easy to adjust and get to fit on my head. Unfortunately, the front two MIPS buttons snagged my hair (long, tied back in a ponytail) no matter how careful I was about removing the helmet. Also FYI, this G1 MIPS size medium weighed 271 grams on my scale, not 235 as advertised (Other helmets I'ved weighed have weighed true, this scale is accurate). Maybe it's 235 grams without the MIPS liner?

You won't even know it's there

The first time you go to pick it up you'll be amazed there's even something in your hand. Weighing in at just 235g it's one of the lightest helmets out there. Personally, I've had a lot of trouble fitting most helmet brands, but the Lazer G1 Mips helmet is finally an exception! I'm always worried that the retention system will just pull the helmet backward on my head, but luckily, once I made the macro adjustment inside the helmet, the outer adjustment worked beautifully. Because the retention system falls down a bit lower on the head than a lot of other helmets, it can get in the way of sunglasses that have really straight arms. My Smith sunglasses interfere with the retention bands under the back of the helmet, so they won't stay in place on my face, but I'm probably an odd case. Anyway, having to swap out for different shades is a small price to pay for such a nice helmet. The side straps are sufficiently adjustable as well and are not at all uncomfortable once you set them right. My one gripe with the helmet is that there is no sunglasses storage factored into the design. I've come to love the ability to quickly take my sunglasses off and store them tightly and securely by sliding the arms into the helmet. For various reasons most riders don't keep their shades on for 100% of a ride, so it's a nice feature to have, but one that I can look past for a helmet as light and comfortable as this. It's sleek (doesn't appear bulbous), the colorways are stylish, it looks pro, it'll help make you feel faster, and it's extremely lightweight. I've only been able to ride outside so many times this winter with it but I'm already picturing so many epic rides with this beautiful helmet atop my noggin.

Gravel helmet perfected
- Familiarity:

I've always loved the look of the Lazer helmets. By comparison to other brands, they seem to look sharp and fast, no matter who is wearing them. I needed a helmet that would be lightweight, safe, and comfortable that I could use for gravel and cyclocross riding. The Lazer G1 fits the bill perfectly! Some of the things I love about this helmet: The overall profile is the lowest of any helmet I've used to date. Little to no mushroom look on this helmet. The retention system in this helmet is unique. It's almost so light that I didn't notice that it was there. For the long-haired folks out there who rock the pony tails while riding, the retention system is perfect because it bends right around the occiput of the back of the head, neatly avoiding the pony-tail area. I also found that the retention system was never too tight. The way that it secures the head makes it feel snug, but not so tight that you get a headache. The chin strap system on the helmet is fantastic and I had no issues with it. I found it totally adjustable and once in place, it didn't move around. The only downside I found on this helmet is that it doesn't integrate as well with eyewear as I'd like. Eyewear storage is difficult. But it also doens't extend very far down on the forehead, so there is a bit of a gap between the glasses and the helmet when riding. However, to me this is still one of the best helmets I've used to date. The aesthetic and feel of the helmet more than makes up for any shortcomings it may have. Definitely a helmet I'd recommend to anyone.

Best Lazer Helmet Yet
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I've worn a bunch of Lazer helmets in the past and they've all seemed to fit slightly differently but the G1 is the best yet! I find it similar to Giro's helmets but it wraps my smallish head just a bit better. It's also the lightest helmet I've worn, I usually don't choose helmets because of weight but it really is unnoticeable on my head. I've just used it in the winter with a hat so I can't comment on how well it ventilates. Most importantly it looks real good! It doesn't have the bulkiness that some other brands like POC. Overall I've got no complaints!

Comfortable and Light!

I'm using this helmet for road and gravel rides. This is my first Lazer helmet, and it's been an incredible introduction to the brand. In regards to the look, I have more of an oval-shaped head and I appreciate the profile is slim. It does not stick out on the sides like brands I've tried in the past. In regards to performance, the helmet is so light I often forget I am wearing it. On long climbs the ventilation keeps my head cool so I can focus on what matters. I wear mine with a cap and have never had a problem with it moving around thanks to the dial on top of the helmet. Overall, a super solid purchase that I am excited to keep testing the limits of.

Huge improvement over the Z1

Love how light and vented this helmet is. The fit and overall comfort is next level. Only drawback for me is the dial system, it's still good, but i prefer the retention system to sit on the back of the neck. other than that, it's a pretty perfect helmet for hot climbing days. I used to use a z1 and I think this helmet is a big step up from the z1.

Lightweight and Well Ventilated!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
After sweating through too many rides in a less-ventilated helmet, I knew something had to change. I picked up the G1 earlier this year and thus far have been very pleased. I have an oval-shaped head, and this fits me like a glove. The Rollsys fit dial really helps snug it up, and having the dial at the top of the head (vs at the back on most helmets) leaves more room for a ponytail and keeps the hair off my neck. Combine that with some serious vents and my head is cool as a cucumber. I'm stoked to make this my daily helmet for road and gravel riding. The only gripes I have are sunglass storage (there doesn't seem to be a dedicated system for this and my glasses don't fit through the vents particularly well) and the MIPS tabs catching my hair. These are not particularly large issues for me, but something to consider if you have longer hair or regularly store glasses atop your head.

From a Synthe to the G1, no looking back

Having gone through a number of helmets over the years, I was excited to give the G1 a shot after not being able to find my preferred helmet in stock. I run hot and venting is essential in a helmet and the G1 does not disappoint. I've been so pleased with the venting on this, even better than the Synthe. With greater venting comes greater weight savings and I was pleasantly surprised with the weight of this lid even with a MIPS lining. The retention system that Lazer uses is a standout! One of the nicest retention systems in the game right now!

I used this helmet for Belgian Waffle Ride Cedar City. This helmet is a great balance of weight and breathability. It holds glasses in the vents on longer climbs extremely well and does a good job of keeping sweat out of your eyes. Great helmet. I love the clean look of the all black color option.
