Wide but sloppy
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Weight:
- null
I developed morton's neuromas in both my feet that have been frustrating me for a year. One of the doctor's suggestions is to only wear wide shoes to allow room for the toes to spread out. These do have plenty of room in the toe box, but I'm having a really hard time dialing in a fit otherwise. They're very loose in some areas, like the heel and lower instep, but at the same time are painfully tight on the top of my instep. No matter how I tighten the boas I feel like they've very sloppy on the upstroke. I tried 3 different sizes, but they all felt sloppy to me, even the smallest ones which felt really tight around my toes.

Awesome stiff sole, super comfy if....
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 40
- Height:

- Weight:

...you don't have ANY bunion or protrusion on EITHER side of your foot. Lakes designed the ventilation ports exactly on the sides of the human foot where there is a joint (1st and 5th MTPs)...dumb...they need to have a women check out their ideas before final stage of design. I felt the edge of the leather of these large vents. As a female with a lower volume foot and heel, I also got some heel slip. Had I kept them, I would have tried to custom form the heel after heating as one can apparently do with this shoe. Also, the upper is lined with foam covered with mesh. Why have a stiff sole when the upstroke feels a bit squishy (as if you have a really thick sock on)? I like something firmer against my upstroke as well as the stiff sole. Would be a good cool weather shoe though, especially with toe covers. I so wanted to love these because the BOA IP1s are SO easy to use...even with long-fingered gloves! Oh...and Lake's sizing chart is funky: I measure almost 26 mm in length and the 40 is a perfect fit (I don't like a lot of extra room in the toe length).

Like a Foot Glove
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The individual upper panels wrap your foot like a glove. The toe box is nice and wide with no hot spots. I had them a bit too snug initially they were just so comfortable. Soles are super stiff and will make you feel like you're so much more efficient. I ride single-speed most of the time and the added efficiency is simply amazing. I'm closing in on times I haven't seen since 2013, I'm really happy.
